My 24 Maverick is sync 3 so I have a usb dongle so I can hook up my iPhone 16 pro max wirelessly. It worked fine until this week when Apple pushed out update iOS 26.3.1. Now the wireless dongle won’t connect at all and in trying to trouble shoot that I’ve also managed to shut down sync 3 cable connection.
in addition when the cable connection did work the CarPlay screen isn’t near as informative as it was before the “update”. Sure glad Apple continues to improve its apps

I had pretty much concluded it isn’t a Maverick issue but some owners may encounter it

Ugh!! I have the same problem with my IPhone 16. Maybe a phone restart would help?

I have a 16 Pro and every once in a while when I start the Maverick up, my wireless dongle will not connect to the phone. After trying quite a few different trouble shooting "things", it has come down to the Bluetooth connecton. If I toggle the BT off then immediately back on, the wireless connection connects right away. This has worked every time.

All this said, there have been BT issues with iOS26 since release. I believe this is just one of them.

YMMV...

I have a well-reviewed Ottocast Mini 2-1 wireless adapter that I use with my iPhone 16 in our Ioniq 6 (the 24s have wireless charging but NOT wireless carplay!) - anyway, we've had it all only a couple of months, When I first put in the adapter it worked great sarting up fast and connecting to the phone, but lately it's 50/50 that it will connect immediately to the phone. It always starts up quickly and the car recognizes the dongle as CarPlay... but then it just sits there with a blinking blue link LED until it and the phone connect (LED on solid and CarPlay pops on the screen). Sometimes it works near instantly, sometimes it takes a minute, sometimes I need to remove/re-install the dongle.

Ottocast is actively looking into this. They've been surprisingly supportive and the dongle itself can be updated over the air from the phone app, so we'll see if they find a fix though I suspect it's more of an issue with Apple.

You can see the screen I get when it's waiting for the phone. The dongle is plugged into the USB port - the charging pad is there above and to the left (it works better than the charging pad in the Maverick plus is has a grid of amber LEDs that show when it's actively charging).

My wireless CarPlay is working again. All I had to do was restart my iPhone.

Found the problem and I’m embarrassed. Turned off the vpn on phone and CarPlay works fine. Even more embarrassing is that I figured that out months ago and forgot😖

I am havng no problems with 26.4 and NordVPN running. It sounds like your VPN software isn’t working/configured correctly. My CarPlay adapter is a cheap one from eBay;
