I returned my TNVTEC airplay dongle, couldn’t get a consistent initialization connection with my Lariat Mav, but I would still recommend anyone else to give it a shot if you use Amazon Prime or something with a guaranteed return option.

I did work with the seller (manufacturer) to troubleshoot but nothing got me a consistent startup connection; sometimes took 1 to 3 minutes, couldn’t find any pattern to it; it’s totally possible it was just a fluke with my specific phone. It was great when it connected fast, in under 20 seconds. Your specific phone model and experience with connection will likely differ from mine, but just wanted to add my data point in the mix.
Yeah I would say the link to the issue is likely YOUR phone. Too bad it didn't work out for you.

I ordered one yesterday and received it today, hooked it up and it worked first try. Its so much better than hooking up a cord each time.

My only issue with wireless Android Auto (and figure the same for Carplay): when connected, you're limited to what you can do on the phone.

For AA, you can't open the Google Maps app. With it wireless, it's more difficult to just quickly disconnect, do what you need, then reconnect.

I’m not sure if this is the same as AA, but: You can use google maps app while connected to apple carplay, but it will exit navigation on the Mav screen since it only shows directions on your phone while navigating.

But you can do whatever on the phone and then it will pick it back up on the Mav screen automatically after you punch in directions or start nav on the phone. No disconnect necessary.

I too have had limited luck with this adapter model smt-9B. Iphone 12 pro running iOS 15.4.1. car is Ford Maverick XLT 2022.
Works right after pairing for a few seconds then drops no screen notifications or anything. I'm waiting to hear back from the manufacturer. My guess is this is the wrong one for this phone. There are two different models of the adapter it appears. I'm wondering if this makes a difference. Yes I did all the updates etc. So far can't recommend based on the fact a fair number of folks are having issues with this.

I ordered my TNVTEC CarPlay adapter from Amazon 2 months ago so I've been waiting to try it out after my truck finally arrives....and that day was yesterday! I plugged it into my XLT Hybrid and in less than 30 seconds it connected to my truck and my iPhone 12 ProMax with NO problems at all. Seems to work just fine! Really happy with it.

UPDATE-In fairness I will report finally the company reached out to me and sent a new module. It worked right out of the box and connected albeit slowly, but I'm not expecting much really. I wish they had contacted me via the support they advertised on the instructions sooner but in the end all is well that ends well. It works. Expect delays with customer service or just return and re-try.

Warning to those with the TNVTEC model, iOS 16 has quite a bit of hiccups ( at least in the current developer release). I am always an early adopter, so I was quick to get iOS and WatchOS on the developer releases after WWDC. I have to power cycle the TNVTEC sometimes twice now to get it to work, but it was near flawless prior to updating to iOS 16.

Is there anyway to update the tnvtec itself? Mine has barely worked over the past few months. Im ready to return it.

Yeah, look at the pamphlet. You go to the IP address in safari and it will let you update.

Picked up my lariat lux today and I wanted to post that I can confirm that the wireless CarPlay adapter sold at https://cplay2air.com/ does indeed work with the Maverick. Now I can just put my phone on the charging mat and still get CarPlay. I just put some mounting tape on the dongle and tucked it up under the USB port.

Way cool! I do think this only works with the sync 3 that comes with the lariat or maybe xlt lux? I have an xlt and it did not work. My wife got me this for my birthday and no dice
