What is the source for the garage door opener? I have MQ and its a no show.

Do you have Chamberlain's MyQ? I don't believe MyQ allows that and only an IFTTT automation can achieve something similar with MyQ. MyQ seems to try to be a hub itself (sadly) rather than connecting to an existing Homekit hub.

Does the ifttt widget only close the garage door, or will it open the door as well?

I just set this up and the choices offered from the MyQ connection are limited to Close Door, Turn On Light and Turn Off Light. I was also hoping for Open Door.

I use a Meross WiFi adapter attached to my garage door opener. I got it specifically because it’s compatible with Home app.

Looks like a lot of effort for very little return. But nice to know ots out there. If I had known I would have bought this instead of my Q

It wasn’t any effort at all. It took about 20 minutes and it’s set-and-forget. I’ve had it for a few years and never had any problems with it.

I just checked mine... you are correct. Well that kind of sucks, though for me it's a non-issue as we live where there's no cell coverage so the OPEN command would only work for us when my phone is in my wifi range... which I already have covered with the HomeLink mirror.

I still like the ability to close the door at a distance just in case I drive off and forget to close it when I leave.

Wyze's not only lets you open and close remotely, it includes a camera that lets you check the door, whether your car is there, and so forth.

I haven't tried it, but I've liked their other cameras.

The MyQ app lets you open and close but it’s only on the phone and there is no MyQ on CarPlay nor widget. I don’t like messing with phone while I drive.

I am lucky. I bought A MyQ bridge about a year before Chamberlain decided to quit playing nicely with Apple. The bridge allows my chamberlain opener to work with Apple HomeKit so I see a widget on my CarPlay screen to b e able to open my door. I can also ask Siri to open it. I won’t buy another chamberlain opener unless they adopt the Matter standard which would allow it to work with any smart home system.

You don’t have the latest version if you’re not on iOS26. It was just released a few days ago

I've confirmed that you can bring up the hybrid battery charge info and display it on CarPlay via a Bluetooth ODB2 dongle. I used the free Car Scanner app, and splurged for a better Bluetooth dongle.
You can display up to 8 lines per dashboard page. Text only on CarPlay (the app has charts, graphics, etc). Nice to see what's going on with the charge.
