iOS 26 brings big changes to 13" screen

iOS 26 just came out for full release today or day before maybe. They changed their naming convention. Since this OS will take them through 2026 they named it iOS26

It is Apple's new naming convention across all of their os's. We now have MacOS 26, iOS 26. etc.

Also, I updated to iOS 26 a few hours. I didn't spend spend much time with CarPlay because I was heading out to dinner. But so far, I'm liking what I see. The part I really got excited about was the Siri command for opening/closing my garage door. It shows on the home screen as a shortcut button I can tap.

Updated my iPhone to IOS26 and the available widgets are immense. Fills out the screen nicely.

What widgets are you using to have those shop up like that? I have IOS 26 Notices iTunes is different

I very much dislike the “glass” theme and changed all my visual and accessibility settings. That changed the CarPlay settings back as well.

What is the source for the garage door opener? I have MQ and its a no show.

Yep, sucks that MyQ doesn't have a CarPlay compatible app or widget. That said, I just added 2 widgets to my CarPlay to close the MyQ garage doors:

There's a no-cost work-around.

1. Get a free account with IFTTT (IF This... Then That) and make sure you the MyQ account handy..
and get the IFTTT app loaded on your phone
2. In the app - Add a My Applets - I think you can add a total of 2 with the free version...
3. Search for "Button" to make a push-button action for the "IF This"
4. Search for "MyQ" for the "Then That"
5. Add the IFTTT widget(s) to your CarPlay

We have 2 garage doors, so I made 2 buttons to close either one (with some creative text editing).

Makes it easy to hit the close button if I drive off and can't remember if I closed the garage (it also auto closes every night at midnight if needed)
