Intermittent Red Screen Flash — 2025 Maverick XLT

We run two 2025 XLT's, both purchased three months ago. Both trucks are exhibiting the same issue: a brief, millisecond-duration red flash on the touchscreen. The flash appears to travel horizontally across the screen and disappears before you can focus on it — typically caught in peripheral vision only.


Conditions:

• Occurs randomly, no identifiable trigger
• Both trucks run Waze on the display
• Initially suspected a speed limit alert correlation, but testing ruled that out

Has anyone else seen this? Looking for confirmation it's a known issue before pursuing a dealer visit.

Sounds like a malfunctioning touchscreen. Dealer issue.

That's a signal issue. Usually red is signal integrity failure. Either the screen is randomly failing due to a malfunctioning chip or the cable itself isn't seated properly.

It happening on both trucks means it is not random just or unlucky. Use WAZE on both trucks? Any other common stuff done to both trucks?

Nobody has reported this before that I know of and I’ve been on the forum for over a year. Since both trucks are doing this, there must be a common denominator unique to these two trucks.

Possible common denominator: "Both trucks run Waze on the display".
I would delete that APP and see if it continues. Just a possible starting point.

I have a '24 Lariat Hybrid, just saw the flash of red screen 2 weeks ago as I was heading down my driveway. About 25k mileage.

Wife and I both experience this when using Waze. She drives a 2019 VW Atlas. We both thought we were going crazy.

If I'm heading into a right hand sharp curve and there are cars parked on the left side facing in the opposite direction my truck will flash red. Warning danger of possible accident. Sometimes the brakes will apply on their own also.

Wife and I both experience this when using Waze. She drives a 2019 VW Atlas. We both thought we were going crazy.

That explains it, the commonality between the two. I've never experienced this, and I use Google Maps.

It is a common Waze issue no matter the vehicle if you do a google search on it . Same thing happens to me and seems to be tied to the speed limit warning feature in the app.
