Hello all!

I've had my maverick for a little over 3 years now with approx. 43,400 miles on the odo. I just received ford corporate's letter for 25N09 for the potential "recall"/warranty extension on the front half-shafts. It's still under the 5yr/60k mark but i think that i might have caught the leak early. Attached below are photos from both front ends at the wheels and at the case. Looks like both wheel ends are weeping oil out slowly but the driver side case end might just be launching it straight into the felt liner in one spot? Gonna try and contact either my dealership or local quick lane to have them verify and hopefully warranty it if it's bad?

I would like to preface this with the fact that it hasn't rained since last wednesday and that i took these photos around 1pm, so condensation from morning dew would be long-gone.

You probably are catching it early, do you have any vibration? They may not do anything until you have the vibration???? I would suggest making sure they repair it under the 5/60 warranty, not the CSP 25N09 10 year/150K miles program since it is referred to as a "One-Time" repair offer

This is covered under the 5-year 60,000 mile powertrain warranty. If you are going to get it repaired, get it done under that warranty rather than your one-time extended option.

The steering's felt a little off (took it for an alignment roughly a month ago due to all the construction zones i've had to drive through over summer.) but i haven't noticed a vibration till yesterday. I was speeding up from 55 to 70 mph to merge behind a semi truck and all of a sudden the truck was doing a shimmy-sway dance. It kept it up until i got off the highway and took my usual backroad route to work.

that's not what the recall is for though if you are concerned you can take it in for them to inspect and they'll probably look at the boot(s) to see if they are torn and check out that clamp to see if it is somehow loose. They're not going to swap out the CVs based on a leaky boot but fear not ! when/if you get the well documented vibration you're fully coved and the good thing is that they will have to swap out both even if only one is actually bad

It's not listed as a recall yet, but assuming it will be if they have to send it out to so many mav owners. (I put recall in quotes because i had called quicklane attached to dealership for clarification and the service writer said "recall") But both boots are leaking from wheel ends and one from the case end, plus there was at least the high speed shake yeserday but i've been taking slower backroads to avoid having that feeling on the highway again.

Also for maybe the last couple months i've heard a loud growling noise when turning sharp at low speeds? Definitely more noise than the all-terrain tires normally make even at highway speed.

I'm going to try and make sure it gets repaired under the initial warranty, this post half starts a journal of "hey, here's where/when the issue started" and a "dammit, it happened to me"

well that's more than enough for them to go look at it, I got my 'free CV' notice for my '22 a few days ago. I had one of mine replaced a couple months ago - the other one was ok. I did not have any seepage or leakage from the boots or anywhere just the telltale shaking on acceleration above 45 mpg - no shake when coasting above that -- no shaking on deceleration but it accelerate after decel then it's back again - it gets progressively worse over time, first I thought it was just the road I was on but after a few days it was pretty apparent it was the CV.

The dealer will replace them for free. I just had mine replaced. It didn’t matter that my 36 month warranty has ended.

It’s not boots. It’s what happening inside. Do some research on these cheap CV. You see different design, more robust unit today. Clicking sound or vibrations your alert it bad.

Does anyone know what year of Mavericks are receiving these corporate letters? I have an early 24 Maverick and have yet to receive any such letter.

It’s only for a date range of MY22 trucks, MY23 and after are not included. Guess we’ll see if they extend it to later builds, seems they are failing also

I am sure it will be extended. My 24 Lariat Hybrid just had both half shafts replaced yesterday under warrant at 42,000 miles. Had the vibration at 40-60 mph. Runs nice and smooth now.
