K, Frens it went like this at Autonation today. I placed orders for MY 23. I currently and luckily drive a Maverick XL 2.0 and absolutely love it. I ordered 2 ea. Hybrids, one is the XLT package (Cyber Orange wasn't available in the XL. I really dig that color...NOW) and I also ordered a Hybrid XL in Carbonized Gray just like my current 'UTE". I like that color. It really sparkles on the Beach. Anyway we got to the nut-cuttin' time and here's the Balance Sheet as follows:XL Supercrew Hybrid Carbonized Gray Trailor Hitch Reciever $100.00 MY22 price $22,590 + 2% (maybe even 3 but HEY!). On to the XLT. I really like the Cyber Orange. Enough so to spend the extra $495.00 and the XLT trim upgrade. Hitch receiver $100.00. MSRP for MY22 is $25,450.00. Total it up, add 2% and PRESTO! You'll prolly have a 2-year wait. These UTES (Unicorns) will be worth 50% more when they roll off the hauler. Don't get me wrong here, I'm NOT a vampire/flipper. I'm just f'n old and see these as a nice way to cruise out of this life. Love this thing! I may just keep this for my personal driver. I just dumped $900.00 om speakers!
Incedently the Sales Manager at Autonation (who personally signed my order sheet) in Panama City Florida informed me the ALL Autonation Dealerships DO NOT BUDGE from MSRP. MY 22 MSRP + 2%. Not bad when inflation is runniung @ 25%. These may be a 2-fer. I'm just happy to have even ONE! I hope to see my orders before I croak. Can my sons inheret my orders ? HA!

I'm ordering from Autonation Torrance and they guaranteed MSRP. I talked to another user here that picked their truck up a month or 2 ago from the same dealer at MSRP.

Sales Manager signed my order. It CLEARLY states 25 over MY 22 pricing. I jumped in and ordered 2! Who knows just what these things are going to be worth when fuel is $10.00 a gallon! Got my pricing in writing. I suggest we all do. Handshakes are great before and after the game. NOT during! Get IT in writing! 2 August my order (s)will be submitted bt Autonation. I'll check of course but I kinda trust my dealership.

2% over MY22 is actually pretty good if it was before the July price increase assuming MY23 doesn't have any additional price increases. Rumors say there are no more increases but maybe it's just wishful thinking.

Just left the Dealership. The 2% is a 'projection' and maybe even 3%. That was Ground Zero on my deals. Hey I have THAT in writing! Inflation is REALLY 25%. These trucks will be hard to beat. These trucks are almost impossible to get. I ordered 2 today. I doubt I'll see them alive.

Let me ask this, would a $37k Maverick EB Lariat Lux FX4 at msrp not be worth it? I know it's not the cheap hybrid anymore. But I'm looking for the compact truck with the creature comforts of a daily commuter. Do you guys think I'll be disappointed at MSRP with the truck at this price?

And besides the Santa Cruz and stretching to Ridgeline what else is there? I don't want a Ranger, F-150, Colorado, Tacoma etc. I'm looking at Maverick for size, bed, car like ride, amenities (ACC) but still some ruggedness and reasonably affordable. Not sure what else I could look at I haven't....

Edit - again thanks all for input and keeping the discussion constructive. Really has been helpful.
To me, the greatest risk of buying an eb maverick is possible damage/cost of replacement of the head/exhaust manifold due to cracks in the exhaust manifold that cause loss of turbo boost/functionality from overheating. That would require replacement of the head and exhaust manifold since they are one integrated part. I believe these cracks are also not covered by the factory/extended warranty. I'm considering after market replacement of the intercooler on a new truck to possibly prevent any exhaust manifold/turbo damage. But it seems the cost of aftermarket intercooler and installation is pretty high since the whole front end of the truck needs to be disassembled and reassembled for the job.

If any gear heads can correct me, please do so 😉

I'm buying a Maverick, but don't knock that "old school V6". Honda builds some of the best, most reliable engines on the planet. The J-series V6 has been around for decades and is a sweet engine.
As a 23 year Honda owner, I USED to think this...until I heard a clanging noise in my 2014 Accord that has since been sold and replaced with an XL EB Maverick. 84K miles in, come to discover that particular year Honda engine was notorious for burning oil in the pistons. Never left one spot of oil on the driveway. Asked about the cost of having it fixed and mechanic said "not worth it for an eight year old car." Sold Honda and put a generous down payment on my Maverick.

NO REGRETS.

Right now the plan is to hold onto the Maverick for the next five years or so, after which time I find that switching to Ford was a good choice for me, I'll buy another one. Unless Honda brings back the Element, I won't be going back.
