Here's what Grok says:

Clarios is the company that manufactures the most lead-acid batteries in the USA. As the world's largest producer overall, it generates over 150 million units annually and powers one in three global vehicles, with major U.S. operations including plants in states like Kansas, Louisiana, and Tennessee. This gives it a dominant share in North American automotive and industrial sectors, far exceeding competitors. While East Penn Manufacturing in Pennsylvania runs the largest single-site facility (over 2 million square feet, employing 7,800) and is the second-largest SLI provider in North America, Clarios leads in total output due to its broader network and global scale. Other U.S. players like EnerSys and Crown Battery trail in production volume.

Walmart,
Ever start Platinum AGM
760 CCA
110 minute reserve and the Bestest part,
A THREE year pro rating warranty
$190.00
If it dies in 18 month I get a new one for $95

That way I don’t have to worry about Ford updates Infecting my Mav and it having side effects. :’P

FWIW Interstates longest warranty is now only two years, been like that for three years already.

Why you ask?
Because all these newer over engineered volt sucking Vampire vehicles kill batteries at about 18-24 months. All because you boyz all want toys !
Chinese components, Taiwanese component, Japanese components,
All assembled in Mexico !
Hahahaha, The Russian in the movie Armageddon:XD
I think we all got off easy on the trouble per mile charts.

Interstate and many others give Just enough pro rate so you can save a few bucks, that insures they have repeat customers.

Did you guys know almost all batteries come from one Company ?
Johnson Controls.
Each brand has a few different specs that are mostly redundant and meaningless.

I’ll go with the 3 yr Wallyworld Battery. Because, ā€˜Country boys know how to survive !’

What ?

If that ain’t country I’ll kiss your ass !
This is in my top 10 favorite posts ever on this site. Bravo šŸ™Œ

When going from a flooded acid to AGM battery, doesn't the computer need resetting to work properly?

Nope, But A fully charged, peaked battery should be installed after about 12 hours of no battery hooked up so the BCM can set up for the new Level of charge ?
In other words If you just swap batteries the BCM will only charge to the old batteries peak charge level. If It’s below an 80% state of charge Sulfation begins immediately in the new battery.

Was I close Internet wizards ?

Thanks for the info, my Mav recently bricked on me and Ford said the battery is not bad enough to replace yet. I'd rather be proactive and not wait until full failure. Just wanted to add an update if anyone is interested. After charging my flooded battery two more time I took it back to my Ford service department and they finally determined the battery wasn't as good as they had previously thought. They replaced it today with the Motorcraft AGM battery under warranty which I thought was great and unexpected. Much less concerned about the 3k trip I'm about to go on.

Walmart batteries;
I got one for my Transit(not Connect). The first one only went about 6 months before starting to fail, so I took it back for a 100% exchange. The replacement lasted several years, and I still have it in my stack of used batteries. I replaced it with a bigger Bosch battery when I added some electric stuff in the van.

note: OEM battery was under warranty when starting to fail after having the van for a year. Went to the disservice center to have it replaced, and was told I would need to leave the van for 3-4 days and they'd get ahold of me when it was ready. For a battery replacement. I went across the street to Walmart and got a battery for $100 and replaced it in less than 10 minutes. Money well spent.

Moral of the story:
Walmart batteries are fine. Probably more for your money than other sources, but I understand the Costco batteries are Interstate, which have a good reputation. I've never had a problem with Interstate (also in my used functional car battery pile).

The Walmart battery warranty used to be 3 years full replacement (no prorate) -- and the new battery also had a full 3 year warranty!

They did not test the returned batteries.

IOW, a country boy could exchange a battery every couple years, forever.

Apparently they realized their mistake...

It looks like the one mentioned above has a 4 year full replacement warranty, which is decent.

CR is constantly testing batteries. They usually have several from "Everstart" but not this time. Here are the ones that looked like a decent value (there were 2 slightly higher rated but much more expensive):

Warranty periods listed are full replacement.

I’ve been buying Walmart batteries for years. I’ve had some last as long as seven and eight years before they were replaced with no issues.

Good day @Grabber Rick,

This appears to be an incident where we are all correct!

I was referring to this older tune...it won't be heard on the radio as it uses language and references that are not appropriate...

Screenshot_20251116_122100_DuckDuckGo.webp

And the two of you were referring to this tune, it's a bit newer...and you hear on the radio...

So, there we go. We are all correct.

I just passed on the more recognized song and didn't directly reference the one I picked.

Have a good one,

Andy

The US is unable to make most things even if we wanted that. I think Profit over Quality is the big issue and that is our own fault for allowing it to happen.
