Honestly, they probably do! I wonder if it's because they have overstock on some powertrains, or if it's because they can make more coins on hybrids when gas prices are up vs when it's down.
I know inflation is a factor, but after each gas crisis the prices never come “back”, they only come down. I remember buying gas per 1/2 gallon, because the pumps didn’t have a 3rd digit

I have a lead foot taking off from Lights or Stop Signs and I'm at 25 mpg this tank of gas with My Eco Boost.
I drive like that myself but still average around 28 mpg. I like to punch it from a stop sign and then coast up to the next one if no one is behind me. We used to have a Cmax hybrid and averaged 44 mpg with it.

So unless you drive a lot…a hybrid wouldn’t really help very much?
Drive less than 6,000 miles a yr
Very short trips to work…. Like a 2 miles😁

Give me your thoughts and opinions

I have the 24 eco… but I am intrigued about a hybrid
I only drive about 6k a year and went from ECO to Hybrid, used to get about 300miles range with my 22 FX4 ECO now getting 600 to 650 range, as for power the way I drive its very similar till you get up to 65/75mph, which I rarely do. Its nice to only fill up once a month with a 13gal tank, but not why I switched, its the Lariat,
the options in the lariat are crazy good, vehicles costing 50/60k don't have all the options in my loaded Lariat for less than 40k. During the winter months am only getting 30mpg with everything running like radio, heater, heated seats, heated steering wheel and that's fine, with gas at 4.00 gal., during summer I was getting close to 40mpg.
Driving 100 miles a week is no reason to switch to a Hybrid, I did it because I saw the Lariat on the lot while at the dealer. Am saving about 250/300 a year in gas and not giving up anything, gas is going to go back down. The resale value with a Hybrid, 4k tow, sunroof, AWD, is much higher. I will keep this truck for 3 years than its a 702 Lobo and someone will get a really nice little truck with about 15k and loaded with options that's great on gas. Coming up on a year I've done 2 oil changes, first at 2k that's free and second at 5k, am not a nut was at dealer for state inspection which was free so they had a special $89 oil change and tire rotation, so I did it. I will spend about 100 bucks in service in a year.

I pay more for a Starbuck’s Venti Non Fat No Foam Latte than I do for a gallon of gas - my Maverick travels nearly 40 miles on the gallon of gas I probably couldn’t walk 40 miles on the Latte 🤪

The Hybrid has plenty of power compared to most other compact vehicles, but it’s not an EB! The EB is a fun drive. You will notice the difference when you press the pedal. If you were coming from a lot of SUVs you may notice the hybrid feels fast. Otherwise, an XLT is An XLT. The eCVT was a much easier transition than the CVT in my Accord. Two great choices, but if you are coming from the EcoBoost you really need to take a test drive… you’re losing a TURBO!
Also I am driving 4500mi/yr and I have not had a single issue even after occasional parking for 5-6 weeks. So far my 10.2k miles short trip driving has ticked up to 45.0mpg lifetime (not many hills here).
Not saying the hybrid Sport mode is = to the EB...but it's mighty frisky....

We have a ‘23 hybrid (Lariet) and love it. We only have 9600 miles on it. We bought it November 2023 so we have a few more months on the warranty. The best part is getting 45 mpg! We will probably buy the extended warranty through Granger and enjoy the peace of mind for the rest of our ownership.

I’m more than likely keeping my eco for the time being
I think it’s best for now
Wise decision!
As much as I love my hybrid, the EB is also a great ride. One year from now you will likely know what to do for sure!

Does it need to idle for a bit in the cold before it says ready
Need to idle?
No.
It prefers to idle, enough so if you start driving it'll use the EV system for 30-40 seconds while the catalytic converter gets up to 1000 F, unless you are just punching it for power before that.
Unless it's too cold to draw from the battery to use the motor.
But do you punch it in the cold with no idle currently?
Treat it the same.

But after that - it's waiting to get the engine up to 120 F, if you do NOT have the heat on.
Raise that limit up if you do.
As you move - you cool the ICE.
Your short trips will likely have the engine running the whole time, and never get warmed up.

Hence the annual average estimated MPG city or hwy will be worse for you, when you do your math.

They should look into a PHEV Maverick

Run in battery for like 20 miles or more

I think PHEV is the way to go! That way you can do most of your local driving in EV mode and just burn gas for the longer trips.

I’m sure they could make one

They have the escape phev

Says like 101mpge with like 37 miles range on battery. I could drive like 3 days on battery alone

if you're thinking about selling your eco and buying a new hybrid then it doesn't work out economically especially since you drive so little., you'd end up spending (likely) $1000+ just for sales taxes. At 6k miles a year and let's say 4 bucks a gallon for gas and let's say you get 28mpg that's about 800$ a year - if you jumped over to hybrid at 42mpg then it's about 550 a year, the diff being 250 a year - it'd take you at least 4 years to make your sales tax back. Also the hybrid needs to be driven to get away from the 'battery saver' mode that can show up a little more often on low daily travel vehicles. Just keep what you have and enjoy the ride.

I think He would miss the power of the Eco Boost but for those short trips He'll get a lot better mileage with the Hybrid. The 1 thing I do hear a lot on Here is Hybrid Battery issues much more than the Eco Boost IMO.
The battery issues in the Hybrid have been mostly solved by replacing the OEM 12v wet cell with an AGM battery.

At this point I’m driving like 300 miles a month

Maybe I should go total electric

I could go almost a month on a charge 🤔
