Maybe I will check into it more

Do you have to drive differently…like really slow your the pedal down I drive easy these days
How much extra does your state charge for vehicle registration for hybrids?

You have so little driving - I'm doubtful the gas savings would even make up for that increased cost.

If no extra charge now - it likely is coming.

Since used - a bit harder to compare the difference in increased buying price between the EB and hybrid.
New it used to be easy - 24MY - $1500 more.
Easily math out annual miles, mpg estimated, and see how many years/miles of driving to pay for the difference.

I think He would miss the power of the Eco Boost but for those short trips He'll get a lot better mileage with the Hybrid. The 1 thing I do hear a lot on Here is Hybrid Battery issues much more than the Eco Boost IMO.
Hybrid battery - or 12V battery?

Slight difference between those.

Better deal new 25 Maverick hybrid $31,500
Or a 25 certified pre owned hybrid
900 miles …comes with additional 1 yr 12,000 number to bumper
7yr 100,000 powertrain warranty
For about the same price $31,500

Ummm... not to be the lil guy that pops up over your shoulder whisperin' or nothin, but...

You should go and test drive one. It's free, after all, just a bit of your time ...

And then do the math on your $100 extra yearly, expected mpg (longer cold winters count big time), fuel costs - and see how many miles to break even yearly.

What to expect with a hybrid in the winter?

Like any vehicle - mpg is worse for an engine anyway in cold.
For a hybrid, even worse than estimate, which should be viewed as avg annual estimate.
Warm climates over that - cold under.

The engine will be running much more for staying at minimal operating temp, if you want heat, even more.

For your described short trips - it'll likely be on the whole time even if you don't request heat.

Does it need to idle for a bit in the cold before it says ready

Look in the mirror and you will see me! currently 4.500 miles on my 2025 AWD 4Ktow hybrid and 10 months of ownership, retired also.
I likely lost 10mpg driving this N.E. Wisconsin winter, nearly all under 30Deg F. The engine warms up slowly, taking roughly 5 miles at 35-45MPH.
On extremely cold days 0 deg. or below I would start off in tow/haul mode to force the ICE engine to stay running until the engine warmed up.
I'm guessing you will lose money if you jump ships at this time, but I like to mention another faucet of the Maverick hybrid that hasn't been mentioned.
The hybrid is just so much fun to drive if you have the time to play the "How Many MPG's" can I get out of this trip game! Transportation and entertainment!
The fuss and muss about the 12V battery discharge problem appears to have been likely resolved by @Mavster Mechanic today! Actually, the 12V battery problem, although I have it, was never a concern for me as I bought a cheap jump box which I have yet to need or use!
Good luck with your decision!
