Does running with the "L"? I know it gives more regeneration, but are you supposed to use it in short bursts? What happens if you leave it on?

I watched a video by Johnny's car care and he said to leave it in low all the time . I have tried it and got better milage but I'm unsure about long term use and trans damage ??🤔. I would really like to know what the real truth is yes , no. Maybe 🤔

There was a recent post which mentioned elevated battery temps when running this way.

I call it "Landing" mode. Use it when you have the space and foresight to roll up to a stop. Otherwise leave it off, as you can feel it bogging the engine down, trying to regen the battery. Since regen will never be 100% of what it draws, the law of conservation of energy indicates that you are better off accelerating or maintaining speed without trying to regen.

When braking in conjunction with L(anding mode), you are almost guaranteed to over-brake, from a regen standpoint. It CAN give you a little extra braking power if you really need it (for a rather jarring stopping experience). But you are better off braking without it if you are short on room or haven't anticipated your Landing strip. If you have the brake coach on, this equates to getting less than 100% when braking. It feels like it increases the engagement of the motor in order to up the regen, which in turn adds resistance to your forward movement. It will yank you to a stop, leaving a lot of wasted space and efficiency lost.

At least that's my best analytical interpretation. So far. One of the things about the maverick I looked forward to was 'figuring it out', meaning: trying a lot of different settings and driving styles and driving environments and then see what the outcome was on MPG. Seems like a fun game to me, and I recommend that others try to figure out their own best setup, since there is no single magic button or mode for every situation.

Two years after my Maverick Hybrid was reserved it was delivered last month.
The first road trip was to the top of Mt. Washington. No problem going up the auto road.
Used low and a lot of breaking going down.

Brake, break, thru, threw and through are all interchangeable on most forums that I have been on.

A lot of people do not know their native language, nor do they care.

Videos. *sigh* I'm too old for videos and their snail slow pace.

Hey Ford, put the info in the manual. That is what it is for you know.
