Does running with the "L"? I know it gives more regeneration, but are you supposed to use it in short bursts? What happens if you leave it on?

There was a recent post which mentioned elevated battery temps when running this way.I watched a video by Johnny's car care and he said to leave it in low all the time . I have tried it and got better milage but I'm unsure about long term use and trans damage ??. I would really like to know what the real truth is yes , no. Maybe

What'd ja break ?Two years after my Maverick Hybrid was reserved it was delivered last month.
The first road trip was to the top of Mt. Washington. No problem going up the auto road.
Used low and a lot of breaking going down.
