How to prevent plastic oxidation?

I second that recommendation. It works wonders on the flat black plastic parts.

Do you use this regularly? Do you apply annually?
I sell this at my work and have been thinking of picking it up, but my truck is less than a year old and I really haven’t had an issue yet.

Every three months. We live in the dry Mojave Desert. Typical humidity around 10%.

Thank you for the information, I appreciate it. I live in Alberta, Canada, and we have some pretty low humidity here as well, along with extremely cold temperatures. I think I might start a 6 month schedule for this back to black.

Cerakote. I used it on my 2002 Trailblazer and the trim looks almost like new. Of course, I used it on the Maverick, and it made the trim a bit glossier. It lasts a long time, also.

One thing I found after using the product was that the pads evaporate very quickly, even faster in warmer weather. What I did was cut the pad in half, then put one half in the pouch and seal it with a binder clip/paper clip. Use the first half until it dries out, then switch to the second half that is in the pouch. Gloves are necessary, and the fumes are also bad.

The good thing about this product is that it is not artificially colored black. It treats the plastic, not cover it up.

I see my neighbor's Chevy Avalanche and think, "Wow! That looks horrible!" See picture. Then I look at my Maverick and wonder how I'm going to stop the plastic molding on mine from looking just like his.

Park inside, or it will be inevitable with time. You can slow it down but not stop it.

I used 303 Marine protectant (supposedly their best) on our pontoon boat plastic, fiberglass & vinyl. We lived up in New England at the time and I reapplied it every month. It helped, but was nowhere near a UV block.

If Ceracote only lasted 2 weeks, you did something very wrong.

Same here. Used it on the plastic fender flares on my Ranger FX/4. First time it rained or washed the truck it was an automatic see ya later. I tried different preps on the flares thinking it was me, but no joy. I discovered Cerakote and never looked back.
