From Amsoil:
While first-generation oil life monitors were simple, mileage-based systems that prescribed fixed oil-change intervals regardless of operating conditions, today’s systems are far more sophisticated. They monitor several conditions known to reduce oil life, enter those values into an algorithm and return the oil-life percentage you see on your vehicle’s display.

Today, it’s common for an OLM in a vehicle driven mostly under normal service to recommend an oil change after 10,000 miles (16,000 km) or more. They’ve prevented the waste of countless quarts of perfectly good oil over the years.

Oil life monitors track climate, driving habits and other conditions. The algorithm calculates mileage, idle time, engine temperatures, trip times, engine loads, and ignition starts and stops. It then establishes an oil change interval as low as 3,000 miles (4,800 km) and all the way up to 10,000 miles (16,000 km) and more depending on severity of conditions.

How often do you change your oil on a hybrid? Ford recommends 0-20w Synthetic Oil at 7-10,000 miles for Hybrids. Now if 1/3 of your mileage is electric you should be able to extend oil changes. Using synthetic oil I always went 10-20000 on my previous vehicles before changing it with no problems. Chemist have told me that oil doesn't wear out it only breaks down under heat and pressure like race cars.
What's the difference between "wearing out" and "breaking down "?

Wearing out ........ it loses a certain amount of it's lubricity, Break down is like it says ...... a change of state where it is not 100% oil anymore, or a collapse of structure as was explained to me years ago.

My last three vehicles the change oil notice came on at 11 months (I don't drive 10,000 miles in a year). If that notice comes on you should to a change whether it is based on miles or time.
I change the oil on my Mustang once a year almost to the day (since I don't do enough mileage either), and it (and presumably all Fords) has 2 different messages. At 11 months, it'll say "change engine oil soon". At 12 months, it changes to "oil change required".

Yes you can if you use a 20000 mile rated oil and appropriate high mileage filter. We have a 2016 fusion energi hybrid PHEV and I change it at 10 k just because. The oil minder has never come on I just reset it. I use Mobil one and Mobil one filter.
Where do you find a Mobil 1 filter to fit the Maverick and what is the number. The reason I ask is I can’t find one.

It is cross ref to fl-910s. I asked at O’Reilly and they crossed it for me. Not 100% sure but m1-102.

Obviously there is a certain amount of mileage that the ICE isnt running at all so doing it by milage doesnt makes sense. I changed mine the first time at 50% oil life showing 6100 miles and had the oil lab tested with nothing out of the ordinary as well as a good bit of life left in the oil. I just changed it again showing 21% oil life remaining and I am at 15500. Oil is better than it used to be but it isnt magic, it still breaks down, it still gets dirty. I always use factory filters and the indicated oil. I personally think stuff like Amsoil is a waste of money especially with a low stress motor like the Maverick hybrid 2.5. If you really want to get into the nitty gritty with oil go to "Bob is the Oil Guy" forum lots of lab tests , lots of SAE papers, lots of petrochemical engineers.

I’m going to change mine every 5000 miles and I plan on putting 200,000 miles on this hybrid so when I calculated the cost of an oil change to be around $ 80 - 130 it made sense to buy the maintenance agreement for Ford gives me two a year at my price for the maintenance agreement over 10 years with two a year I’ll be paying 47 dollars for each oil change and the agreement also includes brake pads and any other maintenance items other than tires. I think it’s a great deal if you’re gonna keep the truck and put mileage on it. it covers belts hoses, some trim pieces really a good deal but only if you’re gonna go long and deep on your vehicle.

I have a lifetime Q 7500 miles free oil change or twice a year for free at my Apple ford dealership and I am taking advantage of it.

The problem I have is that it appears Ford reprogrammed the algoithm that triggers the oil change sensor. On my hybrid Mav xlt I was typically going over 10k between oil change alerts. I just had a major reprogramming done after the 12v battery was replaced(multiple times). Now, with identical driving patterns, I am being alerted at just under 7k to change the oil. Synthetic oil should go much longer on a hybrid because of electric motor usage...and it used to on mine. I wonder if Ford realized they were leaving cash on the table because deslers were not getting that $100 oil chnge premium often enough!

You can likely get 200k miles on your Hybrid by following the Oil Life Monitor recommendations for oil changes. And if you drive your Hybrid in a way that maximizes electric driving/braking, you may get that many miles out of the OEM brake pads.

As for belts; have you even looked under the hood of your Hybrid? There are no belts.

528,000,
394,000,
287,000,
351,000,
I used to drive 70-90,000 miles a year in small pick up trucks. And F-150’s and a few minivans.
All 10,000 to 12,000 mile oil change intervals in the hot humid central Florida climate.
All on Mobil one full syn.

The 394,000 was on roach oil at 5,000 mile intervals. That motor was designed in 1957 by AMC.
A straight six 4.0 Ltr converted to EFI and after AMC went away Jeep bought them all. I got one in my 1996 Jeep Cherokee.
I wore it out.
Rear main seal failed due to worn down thin crank bearings allowing crank vibrations to beat the main seals to death.

All the others I sold or traded in running ok.
The 528,000 mile four banger was losing compression.
Imagine that!

Some of you guys talk of getting 200,000 miles. That’s a low number to me.
I think most just want something new.
Like me, retired now.
I’ll trade up before I hit 100,000 from now on.
Just to get a new Tonka toy.
