I get why they did it, but feel like it would wear parts down quicker as you are literally having to restart the engine each time. And yes, it’s annoying as hell. Especially when you’re at a light during heavy traffic. So glad to have the ability to switch start/stop off.

So what is a teaspoon x 1 million vehicles?

Answer: 1 million teaspoons.

Or, 1300 gallons PER STOP per 1 million vehicles.

Lets take that a step farther:

50 million vehicles x 20 stops per day x 1300 gallons = 1.3 Million Gallons Saved PER DAY.

Now, say everyone drives 250 days a year.

250 x 1.3 Million = 325,000,000 GALLONS saved per year.

1 teaspoon at a time.

Can you hear me now???
Sort of, but what would that be in tablespoons? But I do hear ya!

I support your right to use the feature for your own reasons if you so desire. As had been said by other people, I'm happy that I have the ability to turn it off based on my own reasons.

The way that I would have preferred for something like this to have been implemented would have been if it had been created with a memory for whatever it's last state was. But I've also lived long enough to know that my preferences are not often in alignment with others.

I’ve had this Truck for almost 3 years now but I still forget to turn off the ASS feature! It started working again after I got my new battery!

Hate it! Don’t have forscan so I have to manually turn it off every time I start the truck!
I hate it to that's why I purchased a Start/ Stop Eliminator off of the MTC Truck Club In the Missulanious section, all kinds of parts people are selling. I love it , hated the engine shutting off at every stop light. Good Luck

No I won't hear you at all. I will gladly pay for the teaspoons I use just to have it to be gone/disabled. It's automatically in my startup process memory bank to deactivate it at each start up. Push Start Button, Push Deactivate Start/Stop Button, Turn Gear Dial to appropriate gear. F it. Just my opinion and 2 cents on the matter.
It has nothing to do with your ability to pay. It is the poisoning of the earth that is the problem.

I personally think the auto stop is logical. No reason to have an engine running when you are just sitting. That said I think they should give everyone the ability to turn it on or off to suite their preference. I have been driving hybrids and EVs for so long that it it just makes sense to me so I like it and actually find it kind a annoying when I don't have it.

If we really are that concerned about the poisoning of the earth and feel it is that bad then what are we doing driving a Maverick? If we need a truck shouldn't we be in a Lightning? Silverado EV? Sierra EV? Rivian? A Triangle? I mean I get the concern, but if I were that concerned it would be a cold day in you know where before I would be driving an ICE of any sort if I thought the impact is as profound as stated here.

I am an EV advocate myself and been driving one since 2015. So I get the tech and enjoy it. And drove hybrids before that starting in 2004-2005 time frame until we bought our first EV. So I get the interest, but it is good to keep things in perspective. Newer vehicles equipped with emissions controls equipment are generally pretty clean as far as pollutants in our air. So it isn't the panic that many seem to want to portray it. That being said it does seem very logical to not run an engine if you don't need to, but to each their own. Give everyone the ability to set it the way they like it and have it remember the preference and enjoy the ride, or the stops as the case may be.

My first vehicle to have the stop start feature was a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox diesel and after a bit of a learning curve I began to like the feature. Roll up to a stop light or railroad crossing and it was silence and lack of vibrations in the Chevy at a stop. It all depends of the driver and I been driving well over 50 years.

When I got the Ford Maverick I also discovered auto braking hold feature. Well I rally like the auto braking hold and now I can relax momentarily with the brakes on and the auto stop start active and no creeping around and silence. Getting used to the features a modern vehicle has is sometimes the hardest part but then appreciating the ideas behind them is even better and if I or someone does not like them just shut them off.

The biggest thing is I have to have cruise control and the auto stop start and brake hold features as my right knee has been replaced and being able to move my leg around makes driving so much easier and comfortable.

Please unmount your high horse. Maybe we should ban volcanic eruptions, and make it mandatory that our earth can not have them anymore.

TLDR: If you live in a colder climate, stuck in heavy traffic, and you like the A S S, you can turn off the A S S to prevent having to tap the throttle every time traffic starts rolling again :)

I personally do not mind the A S S. I'm here to share a little thing I discovered that may not be news to some. I'm in a 2025 EcoBoost Tremor. With the A S S on, all the the cruise control features turned on, and you are in a pack of cars that comes to a complete stop. The truck will come to a stop all on its own, stop the engine, and hold the brake until traffic starts rolling again. Once traffic starts rolling again, you have to press the accelerator just enough to start the engine and get the truck rolling again. Once you are above just a few mph, you can take your foot off the throttle and it resumes the fully automatic cruise control.

I think most people that live where it gets really hot and leave their A S S on know that above about 95 degrees, the engine will not stop, to maintain good a/c. Here's the cool (to me) thing I discovered yesterday. When it is too hot for A S S to stop the engine and you let the cruise control bring you to a complete stop, you do not have to tap the throttle to start rolling again. The engine is already running and the truck will start rolling again without any input from you :)

Love it. The sound of silence at a stoplight is like money going into my bank account.

My wife’s Jeep Cherokee had it, and we got nine years out of the factory, so as far as I’m concerned, that pretty much dispels the fear monger’s propaganda that it diminishes battery life.

The feature is pretty much seamless on my hybrid, and is easy enough to modulate while at a light by relaxing foot pressure on the brake pedal. .

The feature isn’t as well calibrated on my Tremor, and I frequently find the engine doesn’t shut down if the brake pedal pressure isn’t quite high.

In any event, it’s a satisfactory feature, and I hope the control freak whiners don’t win out and the feature won’t be available on my next purchase. As is, I won’t buy a car that doesn’t have the feature.
