No. I no longer have access to the original study. We had a UPS logistics manager speak to a group of us who were fleet managers many years ago. While the #1 reason for shutting off was safety & security, the data showed that fuel savings was relevant and increased maintenance was nil.can you provide the UPS research? I like to know what car/make they are testing on?
UPS studied the cost of starters from the extra use and compared it to the cost of fuel burnt idling. They found it was cheaper to replace a few extra starters a year than burn the fuel.
Also, these days starters, alternators, batteries, and diesel engines are much better built than in former times, so they start easier and the parts last longer…. while fuel is MUCH more expensive than in times gone by.
I love the Auto Stop/Start.
