When I stop at the mailbox, put truck in P, unbuckle seat belt, open door, get out to get mail if I close the door it double honks with fob in my pocket. If I leave door open with fob in pocket silence. I assumed (yes I know what that makes me, I won't infer it does the same to you :ROFLMAO: ) it was to alert me that I left the vehicle running and exited the vehicle. It seems to be programmed that if the door remains open to think you are coming back.
If you lock the truck with the fob or the key pad you can go to mailbox with the truck running. Or go into store or whatever. I don't remember if it will shut off after the max idle time whatever you have that set at expired.

Ah - so opposite of what I said.

If fob is left in the cabin and you open door and close it and it honks - it thinks fob got out.

So Cherokee has correct response.

Now if it would just toot when you've locked the door and gotten out closing door - so you can start early trying the back doors or calling someone or remote unlock.

Thanks for that information but NEVER will I leave my vehicle running while I am in a store, post office etc. And I have no need to lock it in my driveway while I get the mail from the back side of the box. Now if I still had the hand crank started Model T I might
My long deceased brother left his car running, he carried a spare key in his pocket, while he went in to buy more beer. This was back in the day before double honks, seat belt pop ups, and cars still had the lock knob at the top on the inside of the door. He starts BS'ing with the clerk who he knew well and is in there about 15 minutes. He comes out to find his car gone. So I turn off my vehicle when I am going into a business and lock it with the fob so I know the fob is indeed in my possession.

I'm confused. If I leave the fob in the cabin, get out, lock the door using power switch on door and I want it to honk at me. All Cherokee said was it double honks with fob in pocket to which I agree mine does also IF the truck is running and door is shut, not locked at all.
Does yours honk whenever you leave the cabin with the fob? Mine will single honk to show I locked using the fob with a double tap but not with the auto lock on the door or single tap of the fob.

I got no keyless entry.

Ya the honk with fob in cabin and attempting lock all gets the honk and all unlocked.
That's been the very known effect whenever auto-lock key in truck confusion comes up.

To your point where you both have the same experience - fob leaves with door getting closed. I never said locking was part of it - neither did either of you.
That's the new one for me.

So my point was the effect of confused sensors - which I've seen a couple posts on - the correct problem is if you close door and fob is in truck, no locking, and it honks - it thought the fob left.
Because if sensor was correctly pointed - you should be able to close door with fob in cabin.

You have a misadjusted sensor.

It thinks the fob is still in the cabin.
Still within 3 yrs/36k warranty?

And are you shutting door with finger on handle sensor requesting lock all function?
I don’t know. I’ll likely forget about all this next service, no biggie.
