Easy, make it longer. Done.
The length of the OEM prop rod is limited by the length of the radiator on which it clip.

The length is fine if you’re under the hood once a year to check your dipstick. But for those of us under the hood weekly+ took the easy route to come up with longer solutions. As you say - easy, make it longer, done:)

Not that there's anything wrong with making a modification to ease access, but if you're under there that often, it seems like you could learn not to bang your head.

Agreed.....and why the heck are you under the hood of a Maverick?? Are you filling the washer fluid EVERY day??? Jump starting the truck a few times a week???:oops::oops:

I smoke a pipe regularly and a cigar occasionally - and my garage is my smoking lounge. Some folks like to look at the exterior of their Mavericks - but the engine bay is much more impressive to me:)

I leave the side “man door” open for circulation & light…to view the marvel of the 2.0 ecoboost. The fully open hood lets me wander around with plenty of clearance. I take lots of pics too:)

Tell that to certified Ford mechanics who use prop rods extensively:)

Did you bang your head?

Good thing the hood doesn't latch itself unexpectedly. :)
Sadly 😔Yes, on the driver side corner of the hood as I was leaning in to take a picture of the negative connection for the battery. Post #17

Luckily no blood. Right about where my finger is. Maybe there is a little scab.
That's the best I could do with the picture I'm at Bass Pro right now.😆

I guess I haven't reached perfection yet or a slow learner.

This thread bored me so much that I signed off and ordered a set of Redline hood struts. They get here tomorrow.

I'm 5'8" and never came close to banging my head on the hood. But have have banged my junk on the Blue Oval while checking the oil. 😂

I think your wife said, it's not the length of the rod that matters, it's the hole you put it in.

Seriously now, there are TWO holes you can use your stock rod in. Normal, and one closer to the windshield that holds the hood up a few extra inches.

I thought everyone knew that.

That is NOT a prop rod hole. Tried it once & hood almost fell down. Although I have a 2025 EB - maybe Hybrids have a spare hole…Note there are identical holes on the other side of hood…

Jesus ….lighten up Francis. It was just a joke …man you must be fun at parties. Mustangs are cool though. 😎
So...your Chevy Chase quote was a "joke?" No, anyone with sense reading those words....
not a joke! You need to lighten up.
Hallway ‘Monitors’
School hallway monitors, I member those ~
I moderately think ya’all are nuggin futs.
Roflmao.
You "member those"....LOL...that's cause you were in the halls instead of English class!! LMAO!!

Monitors easily can mean the same as moderators.....Geez guys...you all are the ones that
need to lighted up and stop trying to pick on a word that wasn't what is "normally used".....
moderator, monitor, overseer.....whatever.

You all want to be really technical or accurate with the word "Moderator.".....????

Webster's New World Dictionary...."Moderator n. one who presides at an assembly, debate, etc
This isn't an assembly in the truest sense......debate....but, in a formal setting with people present!

Monitor has many uses and meanings. One is..."to watch or check on a person..or thing.
Or person's . That fits just fine.

The prop rod may not fit securely in this hole, without some work.

Wind could blow the hood open if not attached firmly.
Getting it back out is another chore
If you decide to use "Mavster Mechanic" method remember to properly reposition your prop rod so you don't snap the plastic off 👇🏻

As you can see the prop rod securely placed in the area right below the arrow embossed to the metal. That's why it's there.
It somewhat holds the hood securely against wind.
