I have run 2 of the 3 in the past and have nothing but amazing things to say about them. The 2nd is a less aggressive version of the first. Do I go with true off-road style Falken Wildpeak AT3W, newer less aggressive Falken Wildpeak AT Trail or a passenger car tire the Sumitomo HTR A/S P03?

I love the wet handling on them. I have tried others and these are best for my style of driving in the rain.

I don't need to use the Maverick as a truck, because I still have my Ram for moving anything 25,999lbs or lighter... legally (LOL). I got it mostly because I wanted to treat myself to my first new vehicle in 17 years. Hybrid for the fuel economy. Lariat because I am tired of using a physical key, wanted heated steering and seats.

So, when the time comes I will take the "highest bidder" here and slap them on my Maverick.

My understanding is that AT3W is on its way out to be replaced by the AT4W.

If you can get it at a discount that would be my suggestion. I drives as well as most all-seasons and has a boatload more traction in snow, ice and mud. The one noticeable drawback is noise, but that's what loud sound systems are for. :D

Maybe I'm insensitive (deaf?) but recently went from stock Conti's to AT3Ws and can't hear the difference.

Well, it is the quietest real all terrain tire I've ever used.

Not sure what your asking in your post? The Continentals on my maverick look new at 13,000 miles.hoping to get several more years out of them.

I got the Falken Wildpeak A/T Trails to replace the continentals on my XL Hybrid. Main reason I got them is because I live at the end of a long steep gravel road and didn't want to deal with the flats I'd probably get with the Contis. The Falkens do great on the gravel roads I frequent. They also did fine in the single snowfall we've had here so far this year. But if I lived on a paved road/street, I woulda kept the OEM tires for the slightly better ride (and possibly better MPG).

The ride seems to be somewhat jarring on the roughly-paved 2-lanes around here. The harsher ride seems to amplify the f-n rattles my Maverick has in the dash and the front passenger door. I'm actually taking it to a dealer next week to have them try and fix a couple rattles. First trip to a stealership since I took delivery.

I also ran the AT3Ws on my Mav and they were super quiet, no noticeable road noise. I then ran the Kumho Roadventure AT2 tires and there was very minor road noise, now I am running Toyo Open Country ATIII tires on my GX and they are super loud compared to both. The Wildpeak AT3W was a winner, it's too bad they replaced it with a much heavier tire.

So if you're going to use your Maverick like a car, why bother with AT tires that will only harm fuel economy and add road noise compared to a normal passenger car tire? I love my Wildpeak Trails, had them on two different vehicles; they're great for my application, but yours sounds quite different.

I have noticed no mileage decrease since switching to the Nokian Outpost APTs and only a slight change in noise.

I got myself some steelies. Just going to go to Discount Tire this winter and find something good then and deal with the snow. Was a nice winter here in the upper Midwest with not much snow.

As others have said, I agree that if you are using it as a car, on roads most of the time, then A/T's are likely overkill, even something like the trails.

The wildpeaks in general are superior A/T's, but if you don't actually need A/T's then it would better to just get an A/S like the Cross Climates and if you don't need one that is 3 peak rated, that will also add to the life of a tire and the Michelin Defenders are a great choice. I get the feeling this is more about looks than anything though. Been there done that. Not worth the sacrifice in MPG's. You have a FWD Hybrid and you are using it like a car, you got it for the savings in MPG's, so save your money and get tires that will last. This advice is coming from someone currently running KO2's btw, and a long time Wildpeak/Open Country user. Pretty much all I've ever ran is M/T's and A/T's.

i like the Pirelli Scorpion AT that come from the factory. 25mpg and hardly noticeable as far as road noise.
