Having Second Thoughts

So, I was all excited about ordering a Maverick and then.... I found this forum. I've perused several threads and it seems like lots of issues with the build and delivery process. That seems to be more of the rule than exception. I am trying to figure out what I can reasonable expect, if I order an XL with a spray in bedliner and perhaps a sunroof. Are we talking around 6 months?

6 months is a decent ballpark for a hybrid (ecoboost should be faster), but don't hold anyone to it - could be 7 or 8. I ordered last month and I'm hoping to have it May 2022. There are definitely some logistical/delivery issues, but so far not many build quality issues reported on the forum.

I would say your decision depends on how long you are willing to wait for a new truck. I think it's worth it since there is nothing else out there this affordable and practical, and my current car works fine.

Hybrid ordering is closed.. Build issues seem to be with only a few of these trucks not all of them.. You are late to the party and there is a mass of backwater of these already so you will wait.. No different than the Bronco or the Ford lightning. You cannot blame Ford for putting 3 brand new trucks on the market but that all turned out to be massive home runs.

You didn't say if you're wanting a hybrid or ecoboost, that makes a difference. And have the spray-in bedliner done locally, because it will definitely hold up production if you order it from the factory.

Assuming you are ordering an ecoboost XL your order should go thru within a few months. Adding the sunroof might delay slightly but its not known as one of the major delay items.

The spray in bedliner on the other hand, thats a delay for sure.

They originally had it attached to both luxury packages, perhaps not realizing that there would be a large number of those ordered, especially the XLT lux package from what I have read.

The 6-8 months is for hybrid orders (like mine)

I second opting out of the spray in bed liner and get it done after market. Wait for it man, it truly is a nice ride. I test drove one and it was a blast! sure logistics are headaches, that is Covid for ya. Just order and stay busy on here for a few months waiting for it. Excitement for it is half the fun

If your looking for an EcoBoost XL I would suggest checking dealer inventory. I live in central Illinois and there are several available within 100 miles from me…unfortunately I want a Lariat and there are none available. I ordered in August and am still not scheduled. Dealer told me I’m second in line at the dealership (one order in front of me) so hoping to get scheduled this month and receive late January early February. 5-6 months seems to be the norm. If your looking for a Hybrid your probably looking at a 2023 model year.

There are already some dealerships no longer taking hybrid orders. If you call around you may be able to find one that still is.

Could even try Long McArthur Ford where @fordvideoguy works. Not sure where you live but they ship, and seem to be on the up and up.

Either way, pull the trigger fast or you'll be waiting till next summer to order.

Hybrid? My dealer told me up to 6 months for an ecoboost and a year for a hybrid. It feels accurate. They had me drop the spray in bed liner because it would have delayed the order.

There is a thread with a list of the items currently causing delays.

Yep, that is one flaw. Of course, some others that aren't quite as easily blamed on the consumer:

1. Taking orders "for Fall delivery", but being unable to sell a single one of your standard models until a couple weeks before Fall ends.
2. Tracker systems regularly going offline and being inaccessible for a day or more at a time.
3. Tracker systems regularly misreporting status of vehicles.
4. Ford's online/phone support being able to provide almost ZERO information/support on orders other than verifying that you placed an order.
5. Erratic and sometimes non existent communication with the customers that have placed orders throughout the entire process.
6. EXTREME variations in order processing and flow so that it's nearly impossible to formulate an accurate ETA that's smaller than a 6 month window.

So, I agree that there are a LOT of unrealistic folks that are expecting "Amazon level" accuracy in their tracking and don't seem to understand that material delays are part of life now.
I ALSO think that if any company I'd ever worked for produced the level of quality that these trackers provide, there'd be a metric shit ton of folks getting fired REAL QUICK LIKE.
