This was available yesterday morning. Dealer asking $3K over msrp. Note pre price increase on window sticker. Not what I ordered but options and color work.

Dealer is 2.5 hours from my home. I’d have to either pay for shipping or compensate my son or daughter for their time. Thoughts please. Tracker not working this morning Checked before posting

It's a nice truck, exactly how I want mine (though I could live without CoPilot360)

When dealers want a markup, I always wonder if you could negotiate dealer purchased and installed merchandise instead. Merchandise has a huge mark-up, so profitable for them, and at least you get something for the extra money spent.

Things like:
mud flaps($180)
floor mats ($175)
tunneau cover ($1200)
theft prevention tailgate hinge lock ($40)
tailgate asssit easy lift ($50)
wheel lock kit ($75)
protective film ($360)
cargo management system tie-downs ($225)

That's $2305 right there.... and you have them istall it, maybe it takes you to the $3k they want.

Granted a $3k market adjustment is pure profit... and my suggestion requires them to give up time and materials to collect the $3k (with perhaps just 1/2 to 2/3 of it is profit)...

Who knows, worth a shot?

At what most dealers are doing, $3K is not that bad, especially if it is equipped like you want it. Your dilemma is to pass it up and NOT get yours built, or take it. Common sense tells me that you could have it in a couple of days, put it to use as opposed to waiting for a few more weeks to get it built, then another month or two to get it delivered, and all the while realize it might not happen at all. You can recoup the $3K in savings in a few short months by having the Maverick under warranty, better fuel mileage, etc.

How bad do you need a vehicle right now? Would you be able to wait to see if your order gets completed? For me personally a market adjustment is a hard no but in some circumstances I can see where it might be necessary. A good example is if your current vehicle is not worth repairing or unrepairable and you need a new vehicle now and absolutely cannot wait to see if your order gets completed. That's the way I would look at it.

Also if you did purchase this you could also rent a car one way instead of having to rely on and pay someone in your family to drive you there. I did this once when I purchased a car about 300 miles away. Many employers even have discounts on rental cars as employee perks and the discount can be pretty good. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

If you like the truck, get it. Only thing I can say is your son or daughter or both should be happy to help with a short ride such as that. Make a fun day trip out of it. Maybe take em to their favorite restaurant that is also not too far out of the way.

It doesn't cost anything to ask, so I would ask the dealer "will you deliver to my house at that price?"

I needed to replace my 1980 Toyota pickup with something similar in terms of size. I had been hunting for a Maverick for a couple of months that didn't have outrageous dealer markup (ADM). I was seeing prices in CA for ADM anywhere from 3k, 5k, 7.5k, 10k and even 15k. I got so lucky and got a cancelation with an ADM of 2.5. Drove 1.5 hours to get it.

Bottom line 3k is a lot of money, but it isn't a bad ADM on the scale of $ here in CA. It depends how much you want/need the truck against if you can wait and get the one you ordered. Lots of good suggestions from others on how to get there or have the dealer deliver.

Well, I put a deposit on a Maverick this morning but not the one in my original post. MSRP plus $1,495 for “ceramic coat.” $422 doc fee. I’ll take care registration and fees once it’s delivered. Also Farm Bureau coupon.

Will deliver on a rollback to my home no additional charge. 151 miles each way dealer to my home.

Maverick scheduled for production 5/26/2023 Dealer ordered should arrive first week of July if no delays due to scheduling

Deal collapsed. My credit union would not loan me half the purchase price because the dealer is unable to do out-of-state title and registration work.

I talked with my credit union’s VP for lending and no exception would be granted.

My only option was to pay cash, get a PA transit tag, register and title the vehicle in MD then apply for the 60 months at 4.74% auto loan.

All told, would have required $40,074.78 from my savings to do so.

At age 71, I was not comfortable with that option. Dealer could get vehicle financed through their lenders with rates in the 7 percent range, that too unacceptable.

Dealer told me interested buyers were waiting for a call if this deal didn’t work.

I have a Maverick on order likely never to be scheduled. Checked out the B &P for 2024 Ranger. All I can say is “looks very
interesting.”

While I won’t get in line for a 2024 Maverick, with more information on the 2024 Ranger, very likely get in that line.

Edited to add: checked dealer website and saw they now have a 50 mile limit on free delivery.

Wow. I lived in Colorado back in 2005 and bought one of the first 10,000 Hybrid Escapes ever made in California.

To avoid the hassle and paying CA sales tax the dealer drove the Escape under it's own power to the Nevada state line where we had the bill of sale notarized on Nevada property at a Casino front desk. (Like $20 charge.)

My mother came in her private vehicle (she lives near dealer in CA) and drove the salesman back to the dealership. I wasn't charged for the transport to state line and my mom gave him a free ride back. I drove to CO. Win-Win-Win (and I financed with a Colorado Credit Union. They didn't care where the truck came from).
