Everything has a start. With any start there are going to be hiccups. Global constraints, because of Covid, is not something that could have been planned for. They also want to dominate the truck market. Does that mean they should tone back all marketing efforts in that direction until everything is perfect? If you have never brought a product to market you do not understand the complexities. Bringing an automobile to market is quite massive. The goal of build to order is actually larger than 25%. This falls in line with Just-IN-Time(JIT) inventory production. But JIT production model depends on a smooth flow of building materials. It takes years to put this all together and you cannot prepare for every contingency.Ford wants to make building to order a larger part of its business, and reduce the number of stock units dealers carry. Their goal is 25% of sales being build to order
