I went to plug in my scanner and no joy. The plug fit unusually tight and no power. All the pins are straight and I confirmed it works on another car to be sure. I’m thinking of going to Autozone but I’m kind of scared they will break something. Anyone know what’s going on?

Same as it ever was - my 15yr old ELM OBD bluetooth scanner plugged in with no issues.
It is tight...

Nope. It's just an odd angle. You could take a pic to confirm everything is as it should be. Could be something warped like the outside housing and your OBDII won't fit for that reason.

I guess I’ll just try shoving it on, man it just doesn’t feel right

edit: I lubed it a bit with wd 40 and it seems to seat. I think the power is dead at the port, gonna try autozones scanner.

No don't do that lol. Share a quick pic just to make sure. Don't go trying to fit round pegs in square holes lol.

But I found the angle of it to give me problems as well, so hopefully that's it. Please quote me once/if you decide to, as I don't get notifications per thread. Hopefully we can get this figured out ;)

first guess is that you're rotated 180 degrees. it is keyed and will not go in 'upside down'.

second guess is slight angularity issue. part of the OBDII spec is that the port is accessible without removing anything. you're supposed to be able to reach down there and plug in.

get a flashlight, open your door wide, and lean in there to see what you're doing.

The requirement is it doesn't require a tool for removal of any instrument panel cover; some manufacturers put it below a fuse panel cover, for instance. And some definitely play fast and loose with the requirement that it be visible to a crouched technician.

You only lubed the outside with WD-40, right? Dielectric grease for the inners. Just checking.

Also, just noticed your sig :ROFLMAO:

Let us know how it goes.
lol yes.
I took it to autozone, no power on their tool either. My tool has a provision to power it though USB, tried that. No data. IDK, I guess I'll just leave it alone..................

I'm not 100% certain, but I think there is a TSB on this? I swear I saw it reported on here that some others were having this issue too. Still under warranty?

Yes, well under warranty.
I'll search around and see what I can find.
I'm hoping @Senior Master Ford Guy will chime in here.

I'm not 100% sure but I think the wiring harness plugs into the OBD port. Maybe it is not fully plugged in?

I felt up in there behind the plug and it seamed secure. Then I followed the wires up and they go directly into another bundle of wires.

Definitely not the easiest thing to do to contort ones body so you can look up under there. Installing my auto start stop eliminator was not fun. I tried for about 10 minutes to wiggle everything in place but couldn't do it so I had to look up there.

Trying to keep the thread alive too so more people see it.
