Heated steering wheel, the ability to get spray-in liner, B&O audio.. any number of possibilities on the lux package if the chip shortage is persisting. GM has ditched heated seats in some cars. There is plenty that could go away.
I couldn’t imagine the audio upgrade going. The stock speakers are garbage and that is a big selling point of the lux package. Chip issues should only get better. Ford has been working with GlobalFoundries on creating their own chips. Losing factory spray in bed liner sounds like a blessing. Remember those guys drilled the gas tanks. What would Ford make money on if the main features of a lux package are stripped? Ford loves to make money.

You’re right about General Motors. However, now they will be retrofitting the effected vehicles next year for free.

All that said, you could be right. I just don’t see it happening. Ford knows they have orders being carried over from 22.

This would be a first for Ford. I ordered 251 days ago on June 19th. So there has many people put in front of me already. I think I have a better chance of seeing God do the Macarena then I do at getting my truck anytime soon.
Same order date here, mine is built but waiting in Mexico for a chip!

So what happens if you ordered a 2022 after the Hybrid cutoff so you ordered a 2.0, but really wanted a hybrid. Will they at least allow you to change to a 2023 Hybrid? This happened to my son.
If they offer price protection the same way I understand they did the Bronco, you would receive a credit on a 2023 order for the price difference between the 2022 and 2023 trim level that you ordered, but you would be free to make changes to the 2023 order (including powertrain and trim level, I think).

order date is probably the least most important ordering criteria for scheduling right now. What they can build (constraints) and dealer allocation are far more important. If you are order 50 at your local store, and they get 3 a month, you have a long wait no matter when you ordered.

If I am the last order built of every single order currently in place it would be fine with me. Speaks to where I am at in life. I am older and I have 5 older cars that are running ok. This was more of a last hurrah purchase. In fact if I do not get any new vehicle at all period, still ok. Did not think like this ten years ago.:);)

According to a video Tim Bartz just put out, those whose truck order gets pushed to 2023 MY will retain their original order date. Therefore, these orders will be at the front of the line, ahead of those who place orders when the 2023 order bank opens up in August.
that doesn't mean that someone with a June 2021 order with a lot of options and having the misfortune of placing order with a low volume dealer that has a long list of Mav orders will get their man'd before an august 2022 order. The right thing to do is to say : we're not making any 2022 orders until all the 2021 orders are fulfilled even if they have to adjust their build process algorithm

Yes because you don’t have a scheduled week and no V.I.N.# so you can change power trains, trim level etc.

At the front of what line, exactly? If it's just at the front of the line at your small dealership, won't many larger dealerships' allocations go first anyway? This needs to be clarified by Ford.

Something just irks me the wrong way when it needs to be pointed out that those who ordered in June/July 2021 will be prioritized before those who would order in August 2022 (assuming all parts and materials are available). I sure hope my October 2021 order would be in front of those 2022 orders and likewise those from June/July would be completed in front of me.

Any changes to an order MY22 to MY23 might revoke the price guarantee.

It is unlikely a negative change would take place. Ford will (likely) make small adjustments to MY23. Things I expect to see: quality improvements, 60/40 rear bench, 10 inch monitor, new colors, and some safety features. It’s possible those are negative changes to you, but the majority will find them positive or insignificant.
IMO you will never see a 60/40 split rear bench seat on this generation of Maverick. It's not a simple matter of fitting an existing design seat in there- the whole rear section for the "tub" passenger compartment will have to be redesigned and all the mounted junk on the rear wall interior relocated, etc. May not be possible at all if they want to retain the under seat storage bins with flip up bench for access. Of course I could be wrong.

is there a right way to be irked?

Nowhere does it mention if the cost of the truck will be at the price when ordered, or at the new 23 price which will be at least $1000 more for the upgrades..
I'm assuming if you signed your built sheet Ford is obligated to honor that price.
