Hello all. Has anyone had an issue with gas not registering? So i sometimes wait tell the last minute say 10 miles left before i put gas in. (Hate be raped by the gas companies) And on 3 different occasions my Maverick dose not register sometimes for a few hours that gas went in. Right now i put 30 bucks in ad says i have 3 miles on take left. But sometimes the gas gage registering separately lol. See pic. This freaks me out. Is this an issue i need ford to look at? Anyothers have this? I have EB2.0 AWD Fx4
Thanks

There have been a couple of post regarding an issue with the gauge not registering correctly after they had their tanks removed and replaced for the fuel tank puncture recall. I have not seen this as just an issue with a standard (not recalled) trucks.

OP, beware letting the tank run low on fuel. The fuel pump is inside the tank on a modern vehicle, and it is cooled by the fuel surrounding it. Running the fuel level low deprives the pump of cooling, and over time, this may lead to the pump failing before its time. The pump is not the cheapest to replace due to the labor involved in dropping the tank.

Most modern tanks these days don't use fuel floats. They measure electrical resistance. But given how cheap the Maverick is, I'd not be surprised if it was using surplus fuel floats from the 1950s that Ford found in a warehouse in Nigeria.

They measure the resistance of a contact.... connected to a fuel float.

I thought I'd read some years back that car systems were starting to do the aircraft thing with no float. But I can't find a citation for that, so I'm gonna plead ignorant. That's a valid plea in front of the judge right? "Dear judge, please let me off because I'm ignorant..."
