Gas Lid Opening While Driving?

For no reason yesterday, while I was driving down the road the gas lid opened and started flapping in the wind. I had my window down and my truck started making a weird noise, it was the lid flapping. Got to where I was going and closed it back and it stayed closed the remainder of the day. Anybody else had this happen? It has been a week since I put gas in it, so I haven't messed with the door and we don't have many neighbors around us so I doubt someone has messed with it.

Crazy timing you post this. I went past my gas cover a few minutes ago and it was open. I made a mental comment that it seems like it's always open. I think I may be lean against it when I open and close the cover or load in and out. Strange

I wished Ford would come up with a way to lock it when the vehicle is locked. My Mustang and wife's Bronco can be opened when the car is locked as well. When you lock some cars it locks the gas lid too, I wish Ford would figure that out and start implementing that into theirs.

All of us that have a hybrid do have a locking gas lid. We open it with a control inside.

Cost saving measure I've never noticed my EB's gas door flap in the wind during a drive but have noticed it popped open - usually I was just leaning on it for bed access but it could have popped open on its own a few times and I just attributed it to my own fault

Mine typically will pop open when I have a load in the bed, perhaps a side effect from the unibody. Never flaps though.

It wasn't violent or anything, but it was shuttering and making a reverb kind of sound. It was just weird, I have never had it pop open unless I opened it.

Haven't had it happened yet, but it doesn't surprise me because IMO it doesn't close and latch in a very satisfying way. Seems like there could be a better detent somewhere.
