Your profile says Ecoboost, which is a 2.0L engine, but you seem to be asking about the Hybrid 2.5L ???

My Tremor regularly gets 30 MILES per gallon on highway trips, so I would say your results of @31 MPG are typical for the ECOBOOST.

As far as hybrid highway fuel consumption, I have no personal experience with it. But, doesn't the Hybrid typically get it's best fuel economy in city driving and not long highway road trips?
That’s not my experience. Of course it’s better in slow roll / stop and start situations. But still does well on highway.

I have a 2024 Hybrid XL and just got 44 MPG on a medium trip (around 250 miles) which was 90% highway. I reset the counter at the gas station next to my house when taking off. Typically driving around 70 and I don’t “floor it” when picking up speed.

Admittedly this was one of my better runs but I always get 39+. In fact, one of my counters is for the last 10K of driving and I’m at 40.3 MPG overall. I do at least 75% highway.

Yup, even the EcoBoost is pretty good on gas

We planned to buy a 2.0 AWD until they announced the hybrid AWD. Ours is averaging about 6.1 L/100km so far over 3500 miles (about 40 MPG?). Insane for an AWD truck that can do actual work
Yes, driven on mostly highway roads with level ground and speeds less then 70mph it is possible to approach 40mpg with a ecoboost truck. I can often do that on mine and it is AWD and has the 4K tow package too. I have intake and exhaust mods also that help a little.

That's why when I need to convert, I just google it! Lol!
I remember watching the news around 1972ish and it said, "Here comes the metric system! Canada has it. Europe has it. And soon we will have it!" That lasted about two weeks. The only thing that stuck was that we still have liter size bottles of soda.

I wish I would’ve paid attention back in the 70s when they tried to teach me the metric system.

Unit SystemMPG Equivalent for 7.9 L/100 km
Imperial (Canada/UK)~35.8 MPG
U.S. (Standard)~29.8 MPG

Metric is pretty easy once you get a handle on visualizing some common length references like meter vs yards (almost the same)

Simple Conversion:
  • 1 meter ≈ 1.094 yards
  • 1 yard ≈ 0.9144 meters
After that everything is just a multiple of 10.

Temperature is even easier with 0 being freezing and 100 being boiling. You figure out that 25 is a nice summer temp.

Having said all that, Canadians still causally use feet and lbs a lot for certain things... tike a persons height and weight... strangely.

LOL... we are both miles ahead of the UK using "stone" for weight.. WTF is that all about???

Yeah, I was confused, too. Typically, "shocking" fuel consumption would mean extremely low fuel economy.

Really? I see "shocking" as just a more extreme "suprised". It is not positive or negative. Though without the connotation it is hard to tell how it was used. I should have said "astounded".

My hybrid is way better in the city rather than highway. Highway is all engine with battery doing very little, while in the city I often get 50% of my milage on the battery.

I find it curious that in the US, fuel efficiency is measured by distance traveled per unit of fuel, and in Canada, it's units of fuel per set distance.

Yeah, I did the edge walk at the CN Tower in Toronto last year. The lady said "dress appropriately for around 27 degrees." It was August and my dumb American ass was about to put on a ski suit. LOL

Ha yep me too, totally disregarded. Logic at the time was not a single metric wrench/tool in mine, my dads nor anyone else that I knew, why would I need that. Today it a 50/50 mix in the tool box
For the longest time, this was the only "metric" wrench in the toolbox. Also the go to wrench for those 1800's square head bolts that pre-dated either system. ;)

So I bought a used 2022 2.0 AWD a few months ago to take the place of my old Ranger.
It went on its first long trip over the weekend (NS to NB and back - just over 1000 km)

When I checked the results I found it a bit shocking!
Surely this can't be accurate?

If I drive my Hybrid at 65mph I have gotten a best of 33mpg on mostly level road and no A/C but even at 70+ mph I will get about 30mpg with cruise control.

Man I drive from Edmonton to Vancouver (2023 2.0 XL) in the summers, and from Edmonton to Kamloops I get about 6L/100km or just under, with a range of about 1025km to the tank. The Coquihalla is a different story 😆
