I know I may be in the minority, but I hate paddle shifters and would much rather have a shift lever on the console that I can switch to manual something like Mazda (the whole shifter moves back and forth for gear up and down), but alas that is not to be with the Maverick. I just think paddle shifters are gimmicky and honestly on anything other than a performance car that minimizes the amount of steering wheel input/turn needed they get in the way and are hard to shift properly in corners. Just my opinion though.

My question is, I know that in Forscan the paddle shift gear indicator can be enabled when installing the paddles from and Escape, so has anyone tried enabling this without the paddle shifters and if so, does it just show the shifter position, or will it run though the gears? I would love to have some indication of the current gear.

Best and easiest way to do this is to use a wireless OBD scanner and have a third party app display the gear you are in. Check this thread below and also the Cobb accessport tuner will display the current gear you are in as well. There is no known way to do this with Forscan and I don’t think it is possible. The paddle shifters only display the gear once you click them.
