1. Do you use Fordpass?

2. Have you read its Privacy Policy?

Thanks
Joe
  1. Yes.
  2. Yes.
After over two decades in the IT sector, with privacy advocacy as a big part of it, I am too damn jaded to care at this point! I/We in the industry tried to, for decades, warn everyone. We told everyone what was going to happen, how it was going to happen, when it was going to happen, and who was going to do it.....

No one listened....

So, does Ford want to know I had a butt doctor appointment last week? Come on in, Ford! Look at my butt!!

Points, I was wondering about all of that.
Would you be able to point me to a post on the subject?

Thanks,
Joe
Joe, I for one hate doing things on my phone other than talking or surfing the web when I'm stuck waiting for something. Rarely do business. I did make an account on the Ford site and it is linked to my Fordpass account. I think I made the account before I got my Mav. When I picked it up the sales guy asked me to download the app on my phone and said that was how ford new the sale was made and it was tied to how he got paid. He might have meant he got a bonus for getting me to sign up - not sure.
On the site there is a section for points. It keeps telling me that my points can take up to a month to appear, so I'm waiting.

Yep same here. I own two Fords a Maverick and a Mach-E. For the Mach-E I use my phone as a key and it is SO handy. No more bulky FOB in my pocket cluttering it up Like the Maverick. Walk up to the vehicle it unlocks, walk away from the vehicle it locks all on its own.

Honestly, FordPass and the phone as a key feature has spoiled me so much I don't know if I could go back to carrying a traditional FOB.
Cannot wait till I can use my phone as a key, or even better my smartwatch. One less thing on my pockets, and another less to worry about, sometimes I go to the beach and don't wanna take the keys with me and if I do take it then I worry about someone stealing my bag with the keys inside.

About the data collection, yes I'm kind of paranoid about my data, but in this case is so convenient that is hard for me to pass.

The highlighted reasons above are some of the reasons. I love the keyless entry pad on my Maverick and 350. When I'm working around our property I don't want the keys in my pocket just in case they get fall out. I just lock them in the truck.

Ok, guys, I have stirred the pot enough.
At 63, I am just an old fart!

Time to get back to better to the things in life that matter,

Like the holidays with friends!

Me figuring out what to buy my niece,

And what paint I am going to use on those god awful silver wheels!!!

Thanks, all.
Mods please lock this thread thanks

What is not the same?

I was replying to the bold underlined part of "cyber orange guys post". Pointing out the benefit of a wireless keypad for entry into the truck.
The reason I use a keyless entry pad so that I don't have keys in my pocket or phone. when I take my dog to the lake, river or working around my property. I don't have worry about smashing up a 200 $300 watch and there's no peripheral data collection.

I do have the keypad and used oftenly, but still sometimes feel some hesitation on leaving the keys inside.

I ride my bike and sometimes I do some pit stops to refill my bottles or change clothes, if I see someone on the next vehicle I tend to try to block their view of my keypad, but if my smartwatch is the key is more smooth, don't need for putting code that someone can see or try to get it, or taking my key or my smartphone out. You van call me lazy, I just love the tech and the convenience that sometimes it can bring.

Lot of times I just slide the key under the dog bed when I take my out for a hike. Locking the truck with the keypad.
For me wearing a watch or having to carry a phone IS an inconvenience. I've also removed the telecommunication fuse 11/ 12. There's nothing for the phone to communicate to. Handy for some just not for me.

I completely understand it, I used to go hiking and love to be without touching or looking for my phone for hours or days on case of camping, Now I still could be without my smartphone ( even weeks or months if it wasn't for my family) but I keep my smartwatch 24/7 on, is super convenient and keep track of my stats+ have GPS +voice and data on case of emergency.

All yalls is silly... they track what they want, when they want. Really want to make it harder on them? Do like me and don't worry about those teeny tiny footprints and give them giant dino tracks to drown in...

Sorta like burying information in a disclosure... they all do it to us, why not respond in "kind"... LOL!
