Lets compare it to my 2nd truck.
1990 F150 extended cab
Length216.1 in.
Overall width without mirrors79.0 in.
Height74.6 in.
Wheelbase138.8 in.

2024 Maverick
Length 199.7 in.
Width, without mirrors 72.6 in.
Height 68.7 in.
Wheelbase 121.1 in.
In 1970 the F150 did not exist. The F100 shortbed (119in long) was a bit smaller than the Maverick (120in long). The F100 became the F150 in 1976 and the shortbed grew to 205in. The current 2024 shortbed is 209in long. Your 1990 extended cab F150 uses the longbed frame with a shortbed on it to end up at 216in long.

Appears to be close to the same size as our previous 2011 Ranger but a little shorter since our Ranger was 4x4 with larger wheels/tires.

I've come to these conclusions after years on MTC...

If you think (like me) the Maverick is fat porker whale when compared to the efficient trucks us Boomers grew up with late last century, that is cool. For you it is the truth.

If you think (like vastly more members than me) that the Maverick is the Miata of trucks, a svelte, nimble little minx, that is also cool. For you it is the truth.

If you think (like me) the Maverick is a mommy CUV with the back chopped off, that is cool. For you it is the truth.

If you think (like vastly more members than me) that the Maverick is a manly man's truck, buff and tough and up to towing your house down the interstate, that is also cool. For you it is the truth.

Lastly, if all of this back and forth about "is it small" and "is it a truck", etc, leaves you scratching your head and asking "who cares?". Congratulations! You are in the subset of MTC members who are well adjusted, emotionally secure, normal human beings to whom vehicles are just inanimate transportation widgets.

Saw this video and thought it worthy of posting.

i've observed this as well. I often joke when I pull up to a current year F150 in the same color that I say " it looks like your truck had a baby". It's good for warding off the look of superiority. 🙄

but I agree, older F150s and even F250s are nearly the same size. Not so old Rangers even with Club cab are smaller.

Here is a video comparing a 2003 Ford Ranger SC 2WD vs a 2022 Ford Maverick AWD and dimensions. Only issue he incorrectly said the Ranger had more ground clearance based on the two in the video. The 2003 Ranger 2wd had 6.7 inches of ground clearance. Compared to a 2022 Ford Maverick FWD of 8.3 or an AWD of 8.6. Must be with the body on frame design made it harder or higher to access on the Ranger, which made it appear having a higher ground clearance.
