First snow fall I drove in...not heavy but on a trip. I had to stop twice to clear the headlights of snow that had formed into an 1/8" layer of ice that was severely blocking the headlight output. Seems like it would have been nice if Ford had installed a few heater lines in the plastic lenses with the Lariat LUX package.

Any coatings that help with this issue during a storm? like Rainx I now have two cars with LED headlights so it will probably be an issue with all LED headlights.

I would not put Rainx on a plastic headlight. It’s meant for glass as far as I know. Try a ceramic spray coating or take the plunge on a DIY creamic such as Avalon King.

Thanks for the idea! I have always used Rain-x on my cars, but never on the headlights. Live and learn.

The real concentrated ceramics tend to use volatile solvents as a carrier that I'd be wary of accidentally crazing the plastic of the lens. The ones that come in a spray bottle are probably fine, but RainX is pretty cheap and never had any issues with using it on plastics.

Contrary to what you may think, it works quite well aiding in elimination of ice/snow buildup on plastic (polycarbonate) LED headlights. I've used it successfully for years, with no adverse affects.

Good to know. I’ve used it a lot on glass and just remember how it says not to get it on paint. Figured plastic was ideal either.

Eventually the car manufacturers will have lens heaters as an option.

They should have already had it as an option or standard feature. If they can heat my steering wheel and seat by outside temperature readings then they should have had this as a standard feature for the headlights. Some cars already have heated wiper blades but I didn't see that either as an option for the Lariat.

Got the heated wipers on my 23 XLT LUX. I do believe Ford discontinued heated wipers across the board on all vehicles as a cost cutting measure in 24.

As for heated headlamp housings for LED equipped vehicles, a good idea IMHO.

I have a 23 Lariat with the LUX package, 360 CoP...it looks like it is included from forums but I see no listing on the invoice for wiper de-icer or heated mirrors for that matter.
