Wow! I thought Hybrids were polarizing. I guess cause they still burn a little gas they aren't hated on as much as EV's
I don't get it. Each truck has a purpose. It's like an F450 driver sneering at someone in their puny F150.

I am excited about a fold-down midgate. This could carry over to the next gen Maverick.
Really makes it a more functional truck without growing beyond 200". 4 1/2' bed to 6' bed when needed.

I am too! With previous trucks I occasionally used the rear slider to "insert" a long load into the passenger compartment. I know it isn't the safest way to transport something long, especially if you have a rapid deceleration event, but it's done. I'd love to have a way to keep a long piece low to the bed and reduce the chance of piercing the front window. .

I’d be happy with a fold down flat rear seat period on my Maverick. 60/40 please:)

One reviewer of the spy shot EV noted how high the truck’s bed floor seemed compared to the Maverick. A high bed floor makes the fold down pass through easier probably?

edit - this is NOT the EV, just an example

Even camouflaged the Maverick was more attractive:)

That's obviously much closer to production. I bet AI could de-camouflage it in an instant!

I’m not trying to crap on it but then it’s a Nissan leaf with a truck bed?

Limited range. No towing or payload abilities. An around towner for light hauling? With Tesla coming out with their supposed $25k vehicle that’s going to be a rough sell for Ford in my opinion.

I want to be wrong but Ford has given us a lot of reasons to be skeptical.
do you think Tesla is going to do that?(I was never even able to recover my deposit on the "cyberjunk" still miffed about that)

Just as a follow up - a model 3 has a payload capacity of 1,000lbs and the model S has a capacity of 1,080lbs so it’s not a foregone conclusion that the new platform will have payload equal to or greater than the Mav.

I’m going to say the $30k (or whatever the entry level model costs) will have less than 225 miles of range, cannot tow more than 2k lbs, payload under 1100lbs, and RWD. Limited safety or convenience features

AWD will be tied to a larger battery and will bump the cost up significantly to over 40k and now we’re looking at prices similar to what the Lightning had promised in the pro trim but about 1/3 of the capabilities.

It’s a real sleight of hand by Ford.
don't worry it will be cheap and it will reflect that.

Interesting I got mine refunded no issue.

Yes I do think Tesla is going to do it because they have figured out how to make vehicles profitably.

They will use older technology, limit features, range, etc but it will still feel like a Tesla and for under $30k people will gobble it up.

A $45k Maverick feels like a $17,500 Kia Rio. A $30k EV pick up might fall apart going down the road!

Boomers are hitting their 70s. How much longer will they be driving and buying new vehicles? Manufacturers always cater to younger buyers.
My Boomer wife is 61. Plenty of years left for them to buy. I'm gen X, and 60. Plenty of years of driving left.

The EV truck wasn't built to be attractive. It was designed to be efficient and low cost first.
