Did my first oil change on new 2023 Hybrid yesterday. 6721 miles and dash said 57% oil life remaining. Dealer put in 5W20, I called him out on it and said 0W20 is on the fill cap and that is what it should be.
he said this:
The oil on the cap is what Ford says to use to increase fuel economy, it is more of a recommendation than a requirement. The 5w20 is the recommended oil, so there is no need to be concerned about damage or anything like that. Going forward, we can use the 0w20 if you like. However, the 0w20 is full synthetic and your maintenance plan does not cover the increase in the cost for the oil. There would be a 4$ per quart up charge.
Such BS! I am pissed because I had a 2022 Hybrid, same dealer put in 0W20 in oil service shown on the receipt and I did not pay anything extra. Two oil changes included as part of the purchase price. Kind of feel like this dealer is now saving pennies or just messed up. I prefer to do my own oil changes and now know why. I guess I will forgo the next free one. Anyway just had to vent and thought this was the place to do so.
