Sounds like you had battery save active not deep sleep. No lights = Battery save. Will not start with key = deep sleep
Oh you're right. It was battery saver. I was confusing the two. I guess my confusion came from the interior lights and other lights wouldn't come on when I unlocked car or opened door.

I have a '24 hybrid. It often tells me its disabling remote features to preserve battery life. Especially anoying when I get it after I just drove 75 miles. So I've been putting it on a Battery tender trickle charge once a week. But I thought it was crazy I had to do that with a vehicle that is only one year old. I brought it in to Ford service. They told me the battery is ok. They did a software update which they claim will fix the problem. Several days later I got the remote features disabled message again. So I made another appoitnment with Ford. I'm hoping this time they give me a new AGM battery.

I'm guessing you got notice in Fordpass app about DSM.
It's informing you the remote functions are disabled - because it disabled the modem after that final alert.

That should have assisted in keeping the battery with enough voltage to start it - that's the point of DSM, and the battery saver functions - disable draws so the battery can start the truck.

The fact you had to jump start it sounds like something else actually happened, you received the DSM as the voltage was dropping fast and then it ended up drained.
The fact 4 short drives was enough to revive it past that point - doesn't sound like you aren't dealing with the normal undercharged issue - or you are, and this event made it easier to drain the battery.

Happen to use the AC that morning for the drives - or humid enough it might have turned on automatically?

Since you had a battery drain, and this is intermittent obviously - Ford does have an SSM for it.
They'll charge up the battery - make sure the drain didn't ruin it with load test.
Apply a software update to the AC unit module.

They won't even bother trying to find any intermittent drain - they'll assume the ACCM was the reason.

At least you'll get a recharge out of it. Out of warranty for 3 yrs, but should still be done.
Yeah, HeyBales, I've gotten the remote features disabled message before on multiple occasions and it's never been anything but a curiosity for me because my Maverick is a daily commuter and rarely sits for more than a few days at a time unless we're out-of-town.

This was different. When I tried to start it the instrument panel went "haywire" with all sorts of messages about this or that being disabled or something. Reminded me of when a ICE vehicle battery drained. Driven it the last two days with no issues since jump-starting it.

I do generally leave the a/c button on/lit about every day. I've wondered before this happens if that is recommended or not. I live in the Memphis area, except in the winter months we're usually dealing with humidity levels higher than places west or north of us.

Also, what's the battery class for a Maverick battery? Went looking to see what was available on Costco's web site but they don't have it listed. Sam's doesn't offer a search function by vehicle and I couldn't tell if Autozone was giving me an AGM battery (or I didn't read close enough).

Op,
You got 2 and 1/2 years out of your battery. There is no problem. These Mav’s are like Vampires, they feed on volts 24/7.

I shut mine down, lock the doors, get out,
Stand up, key fobs in my pocket, Truck see’s it, the thing unlocks.
It’s a Lariat thing. :’P
Getcha a new battery and Fagetaboutit
:’P

I see that MakinDoForNow has a Noco genius5 tricklecharger; is that about the best one? I see that the Ultima 400+ looks good and has a screen readout that appears useful whereas the Noco genius5 does not. Anyone care to share their opinion on which trickle charger to invest in?
Thanks
It would be nice to have a read out to monitor what is actually going on at times. But the noco does a good job. The orange lights flashing on noco shows which stage it's checking or charging. The first orange = 0-25%, second orange 26-50%, third 51-75%, all three orange solid with green flashing 76-99.9% charging. All orange solid on with green solid on battery at 100%. With orange all off and green flashing it is running optimisation. With orange all off and green solid it is in standby mode. It will check (daily?) to see if battery will take additional charge. If your truck uses any current the noco will come out of standby and recharge. I like the genius 5 because it will provide up to 5 amps to feed the draw and the battery. If you have a 2 amp charger then the random usage by truck may take most or all of the 2 amp with reduced amount for battery if needed.

Thanks for your prompt reply; I appreciate all the details too in helping me decide; without an owner's manual it's difficult to know how the 5genius provides that info you spelled out, thanks

Also when the noco says it will charge up to 40ah battery that is the largest size battery at (not sure but at 70-80% soc) to 100% in (20hrs?). It will charge a much larger battery but will take proportionally longer # of days. The difference between a 2 amp charger and a 5 amp charger is the 2 amp will charge the battery to the point it switches to float in 2.5 times longer. When at float rate both will charge at the same rate even the 10 amp.

140R or H4 is the AGM size. Not even going to mention the FLA size - if replacing, go AGM.

That will not be shown on any sites probably, maybe the 25MY should show it since that is OEM size, and same space to fit in as the pre-25MY, so...

The ACCM issue is intermittent - could have been hit with that, or another module did an intermittent wacky thing.
You may never see it again. Or...
It may ruin your battery next week with another drain, that won't recover as well.

I just bought the Noco Genius 1
And it does exactly what I want.
$30 at Wally world. :D

My old digital Schumacher does my 2/6/10 amp charging if I need that.
Both desulfate as needed.

I had the same exact scenario happen to me today on my 24 hybrid. Guess I’ll be going to the dealer too.

I'm bringing my Mav back to the dealer next week for the 2nd time for this deep sleep issue. It's a shame. There's so many great things about this little truck. But shouldn't have to deal with this with a new vehicle. I have to change from a recommend to a I do not recommend.

As an additional note to my original post, I've regularly gotten the "remote features disabled" since I got my Maverick back in June 2022. Since I've only ever used the remote features a few times, it's never been an issue, just a very minor annoyance to get the message since I regularly drive the truck and it rarely ever sits for more than day or two unless we're out of town.

I'm more annoyed at the "chirping"/cricket-like sound that goes on while I'm driving. Took it into the dealership and just got a "it's a hybrid thing" response, but since the sound wasn't really there until a couple years of driving, I think it's something else, but it's just not worth my time to fight over it. The radio usually drowns out most of it, but it's still gives me "this wouldn't be an issue with a Toyota/Honda hybrid" vibe.

Is this particular to the Maverick or is it an issue with other Ford hybrids? Hybrids have been around a while now, so if it's particular to the Maverick I gotta wonder if it's something with trying to get the price point down.

I had a Honda Ridgeline for just over 13 1/2 years and 215k+ miles. Loved that thing and had no issues with it. I would have bought another one in a heartbeat but at the time the Ridgeline would have cost me $8000 more and wasn't a hybrid, so I gambled on a Ford first-year production vehicle. I'd had an '86 Tempo and '96 Windstar that were both good vehicles, so that figured into it as well.
It seems to be a hybrid issue in general. You can search for hybrid versions of other cars and there will be reports of similar issues. I know the new prius was having issues and the previous rav4 as well.

An AGM is not really a cure-all for this problem but, it does withstand Ford's low state of charge Battery Management System better. The 2026 models now come with it standard. With this, you may not see this problem recur. The consensus here on MTC seems to be that an AGM just delays the problem longer although some think it has solved theirs. To answer your questions: Yes the AGM will be better, resolve? Maybe. I suspect your OEM battery is nearing its end of life.
Our 2025 came with a AGM battery in it

Thanks for noting that, I did mean to say the 2025 models and edited the post.
