Is it only me but are the windshield wipers or motor poor quality?

They wipers tend to skip/rattle along the surface sometimes and make a lot of noise when being used.

I'm wondering if anyone got some better improvements by changing the wiper or having the motor replace (i've heard that some mav's wiper motors already broke, which is absurd).
Mine work fine for 2 years now. Original wiper blades too

In the past, I've used No Touch glass stripper, but I think it has been discontinued. Stoner has what looks to be an equivalent. You might want to give this a try.

Can't say I've had to use it for this type of problem. I usually just wipe my wiper blades well with a cloth using glass cleaner each time I clean the glass or wash the vehicle. With that, I haven't had any noise or skipping.

how often are you supposed to replace wiper blades? Received mine July '22. Didn't think I'd need to replace them that soon because its not like I use the blades daily.
Wiper blades are pretty much an annual replacement. After two years they're definitely no bueno any more, IMO.

Regardless of how much you use them, the daily exposure to UV light, extreme temperatures, dust and dirt, etc etc etc--all this makes them usually turn ineffective just from time alone.

If (like me) you're somewhere where it gets really hot in the summer, I have always made a habit of replacing the blades as soon as fall sets in--I don't have to use them much in the summer, and the extreme heat messes them up anyways. That way I'm good for the rainy season with fresh blades.

I change my blades about every 12 to 15 months. With the heat here in Arizona and the monsoons as well as all the grit, dirt, and dust in the air I just found that was better for me

I’ve had my Maverick since 12/21. No problems with my wipers.

As a general rule, chattering is a blade issue. I never try to clean just replace. Several days of 98 to 112 degrees just cooks them.

I am having no issues.

RainX is your friend.
Quick note: RainX and other repellents can cause automatic wipe systems to stop functioning properly - if the vehicle is equipped with them.

so, just how old are your wiper blades. Your symptoms, on the whole sound like old blades.
This would be my guess as well.

It isn't just about usage but about exposure time. The blades are rubber and/or silicon and exposing it to the elements year round is what will degrade them. The UV and thermal cycling damage is the concern.

Here in the PNW I change my wipers every 6 months. 12 months is likely feasible but I notice a performance difference after about 6 months. We are impacted by both heavy usage and fairly extreme thermal cycles over short periods of time.

Thanks for posting this. My eldest Maverick is two years old and the wipers still work fine, but I will pick up some new blades the next time I'm at Walmart - put them in the back seat until they are needed.

I'm glad I use RainX cause my wipers have been acting up... they suddenly stopped working - they made the motor sound and twitched a little but didn't come up. Then I shut the truck off walked in the store and came out, and they worked a couple times then stopped at half wipe. I manually pushed them down out of vision and drove without them. Then they worked for a few more days, and last night halfway through a rainy drive they stopped working - no motor sound or twitching this time just full-dead. And this morning, they're back to working. *shrugs*

There is nothing wrong with your wiper motor. Change your wiper blades. If you lift your wipers during an ice storm then the springs will weaken and you could get chattering, but its generally due to worn-out blades.

They're back at it again... but after this, I turned off the truck and walked into the post office, and when I got back to the truck the wipers work fine. Lol

That’s weird, something not right. Seems like motor or wiring glitch, dealer time imo
