Thanks . I will let you know when i install them
Hi Vtec. I was watching again the video of the installation, see below, of these fog lights put on by DD. In the comments section, a question was asked if you could put one of Ford's light cluster switch which has a button already for fog lights to turn it on and off and it seems like you can according to DD's reply.
Is this what you were thinking about testing and trying out to see if you did DD's same installation, but just sever there on/off switch and wire straight it in a F150 light cluster fog switch section of the fog light button? Thanks

The headlamp switch assembly doesn't really have individual circuits coming out of it. It's a self-contained module and does digital communication with the BCM over the Local Interconnect Network. The BCM does all of the actual switching of the circuits. So FORScan is a necessity and adding the wiring to the BCM.

The most direct method to integrate the DD foglights beyond that would be just then connect the fog light trigger wire to the fog light wire from the BCM instead of the headlamp (as at 10:48).

Interesting. Thanks for your speedy reply. So what you're saying is, get this replacement lighting switch, ML3Z-11654-DC , and simply swap out the almost exact existing one and then do all the hard wiring and computer re-settings using forscan?

By the way, do you know how to remove the existing light switching component to put the almost exact one in but with the fog light control knob?

If you want a Ford headlight button with the center foglight switch, yes. no matter what fog/driving light you have purchased and wired. people not overly familiar with the maverick probably would not know that it is aftermarket.

if you watched the DD video you know that even without the BCM wiring and Forscan changes described in this thread with the F150 headlamp switch, there is a bit to the install.

Thanks for your speedy reply. Yes, I realize it's quite a bit but I've been watching it a lot and feel like I can do it if I go slow and keep coming back to those videos for reference. My main concern was just being able to do it cleanly and without breaking anything. I like that Foglight style switch and I'm thinking of ordering one pretty soon and then ordering the DD lights which I think are coming out mid-march. I have spoken with another member named VTec who puts together particular wiring harnesses. I think he'll be working on this specific one to go directly into the BCM module. I really don't know how any of that will work out nor have i ever reprogrammed using Forscan, but hope to learn with some very helpful Ford Maverick owners from this Forum. It's much appreciated 🤗

It just pops out the front with a trim tool. Unplug the electrical connector, plug in the new one, and pop it back in. Then do the FORScan modifications to the BCM/IPC.

I suspect it may be possible to not need to install the relay that comes with the DD kit and just power the fog lights from the BCM directly, but I'll reserve calling that a certainty until I get it in hand and see electrically how it's operating.

Awesome! Thanks for your speedy reply. Yeah I'll have to get a little trim tool and see if I can't pry it out of the dash. I'm a little skeptical since I don't know for sure that'll do it, but if you think so I'll take my time and see if it won't just pop out 🤗 And then I'll wait for yours or VTech instructions using dd's, light kit and then somehow connecting it through the right BCM pods to get it connected the right way so that new switch will work perfectly. Thanks again!

Yes, I read the same but I'm still unsure of how, so I asked a question in the comment section.
Truly a well done video and the install looked very doable.
I'm not sure which is the better light option, amber or white. I think I'll start a thread.

Feel like I need to review this whole thread again. Figure out the short hand version of these instruction b/c aside from forscan, this doesnt seem to complicated as it did when I first read it. Also for hybrid, the oem switch seems readily available now at a reasonable cost. I already got depinning down b/c of other things so its just how to best run wires to get the stuff there.

I'll see what DD's reply is on their YouTube install video and will post here.

As the kit is, yes you could make it work but not in the same method as Ford does. My assumption in all of this is that everything is now controlled through the bcm, There are 2 power out wires for left and right fog lights, and a normal grounding wires.

Each fog light has 4 connectors. I'm assuming power, ground, backlight signal, and fog light signal. Because the fog light has the power and signal control as 2 different wires, how you wire it will likely control what you get. Also as it only has 1 fog light power input, how it registers with the bcm will be questionable.

If you look at the base elite f2 lights, you can better see how these work. They have the same 4 pin connector but still need an extra input for the backlights. They only use 2 pins for power/ground/fog light signal which looks promising. The downside of this method is that because you essentially use power as the controller, you will not have the backlights as it seems fog light signal automatically shuts down the backlights and you dont have power without the fog light signal. I could be wrong here as the T tap for the backlight might also supply sufficient power to it and it works without issue.

If they sold the DT-4 pin connector like they normally do with the F2 lights, this would probably be preferable to the whole harness with the kit.

If the above doesnt work. Then it could be wire everything as DD says but connect the Signal wire to the new fog light wires from the BCM. now the switch controls it instead of it kicking on with the low beams. still have to seperately wire the backlight if that is wanted.
