Similar to what leads me to join (Google searched). Have code for outside temp sensor P0073 Ambient air temperature sensor high output. Verified sensor is plugged in and no wire chafing, also verified obd2 port is seeing correct temperature through pcm with Bluetooth scanner Torque app. Guessing 2nd trip to dealer is needed (first is other thread about brake lights), starting to get old sending it in to dealer already with just 1k miles.

Anyone else or any ideas?

Update. Took apart wire harness that connects this sensor and the 2 small amber lights in the bumper and put dialectic grease and reconnected. Temp sensor working now. Connector is on passenger side in front of wheel behind in fender liner.

Behind passenger front wheel well, behind the fender liner is connecter for main harness that was my issue. I cleaned and dielectric grease issue went away.

Related to this the temperature read out on my touchscreen will sometimes read some crazy number in complete disagreement with what is in my dashboard screen if they are using the same temperature center I wonder how this is happening?

Hi dannan98, I've been researching this for hours and glad I found your post. My ambient temperature sensor was physically damaged (torn off), so I replaced it with the OEM part and new pig tail along with heat shrinking the wires. Unfortunately, the check engine light has stayed on for over a week and doesn't respond to any resets. I strongly suspect that the wiring harness you mention may be the culprit. I'm going to do the attempted repair you recommended, but if that doesn't work do you know what the actual part is for a replacement wiring harness? Thanks

As a data point I removed the front clip on mine and forgot to connect that harness. I got a CEL but when reconnected it cleared the CEL right on startup, no need to clear codes. So definitely and issue with the harness as long as you connected the correct wires together on the sensor side.

Ok, great. Well, since the new pigtail wire colors didn't match, I connected the white to the green/white wire and the red to the green/black wire. I just located it now and clean but noticed a little condensation assuming from driving last night in the rain. Just realized I'm out of dialectic grease, so going to get that and finish this up. Fingers crossed.

Most of the pigtails are generic across the Ford lineup and won't match the harness colors. It's useful to look at the wiring diagram for cases like this in the service manual that's available online.

Fingers crossed on the fix!

Thanks. Engine light is still on. But just started it. If this doesn't work, I'll try rewiring the pigtail with the other wires. If that doesn't work, then it will be time to take it in..😭

Funny thing is the damaged occured due to hitting a chicken crossing the road to get to the other side.
