Is extended idling for 2 hours plus an issue? I have heard that some engines can get damaged or have increased wear if idling is extended. Xlt eco boost

It isn't going to break anything, but it will cause your oil life monitor to tell you to change the oil sooner than it would have. Especially if this is a frequent thing.

Are you planning to use the vehicle (the alternator) as a power source for an external load or something? If that is the plan, depending on the draw, you might draw down your battery to a level that is no good.

Nope won’t hurt it at all. Mine idles all the time. I’ve let mine idle all day before on hot days so when I’m done with work it’s cool. šŸ˜Ž
Mine regularly idles 2-3 hours a day and haven’t seen any negative affects over long term or in the oil reports.

It's hard to overstate how ridiculous and unnecessary this is. You idle a vehicle all day long so it stays cool while you aren't in it? Is that a thing people do?

Don’t they turn off automatically these days after a certain amount of time while in idle? In park obviously.

Unnecessary is a big understatement! Idling is downright awful for gas consumption and even worse for smog. Not only that, but you can literally schedule your Mav to start at any time and have the A/C at full blast so when you get in it's cold. The fact that this person's truck is running all day is mind-numbing. I'm all for freedom of choice, but there's a point where that choice is just asinine.

I'm really hoping this is just a case of "they don't know what they don't know".

Just remote start 10 minutes before you leave and you can set up climate control to automatically come on with remote start..

All right guys relax. I was not serious about the all day. I have had to have it idle all day but it was definitely not so it was cold when I got out of work. I work in the heat.
If I was to leave it run all day it would be to help speed up global warming. Winter sucks. Lol

I was not serious about the whole day but my truck does idle a lot during certain days just based on my work location and having to move it very frequently. Some days it never does shut off but it’s not so it’s cool.
That being said if I choose to do that why would anyone care. Would just prove that stupid still exists.

That's fair, you are welcome to do as you wish - I agree wholeheartedly. I don't think that makes it any less of a bad idea, however. Ignoring the wastefulness, it's simply not good for gasoline engine to idle for extended periods as combustion temps remain low, carbon buildup increases and oil dilution occurs.

I'm forced to work in my truck on occasion due to being on call. So on those occasions when I'm on the road and I cant find a cafe I set up in the truck and work for hours at a time. Thanks for the feedback

All those are valid concerns, that being said all my ecoboost have gone well over 250k and I’ve never had any of those issues pop up. But I also don’t do a lot of short trips.
Every now and again I’ll run some amsoil PI or similar product that helps remove Carbon so maybe that’s why I haven’t seen any issues.
Idle away good sir
