I placed an order for Ford part K2GZ 6A49A - engine cover for the 2.0L EcoBoost and was told the part is now discontinued. I asked my local dealer to do a locate on the part and nobody locally has one. Does anyone have an ideas, source etc. for the cover? I read somewhere that it is used on the Escape w/2.0L and possibly the Bronco Sport. Did Ford delete it in the process of removing content and saving $$$?
is the part # K2GZ-6A494 or K2GZ-6A949 I ordered that cover but my part # ended in 949 I just ordered one from TascaParts.com

I'm in my 30s and cannot fathom spending a penny on a plastic cover for an engine that no one but you and your mechanic will ever see.

I'm with you. Show it all off

Thanks, that was soon after getting it when things were nice and clean. It's an interesting engine, and pretty in a mechanical kind of way in my opinion. Kind of reminds me of the plumbing on a rocket engine for some reason

My 22 Maverick did not come with the cover, one of the first things I noticed during the dealer walkaround. The answer to why it wasnt there rang true, "to many engine fires due to critters making cozy nests under the things and eating away the wires". Ah! so true in the mountains here, I kill enumerable amounts of chipmunks and wood rats that love all my ranch equipment. Many of my neighbors and I have spent thousands of dollars in repairs from these little evil bastards, so true or not from Ford's perspective, it passes the smell test for me.

Just purchase a 2022 Ford Escape 2.0 engine cover. It fits the Maverick 2.0.
You have to a grommet and bolt/nut to adapt.

Does the engine cover trap heat? I'm not a mechanic, just asking.

Trap heat? = I'm not a mechanic either and I have not measured temps with and without a cover. I think Ford has taken the heat issue into account because Ford and many other mfgs include covers. Logic says they would not include covers if there was a concern over excess heat being trapped under the cover. I did read that Ford had some issues with engine fires but it was unrelated to the cover, rather a fuel leak issue in a component under the cover. I think a bigger consideration would be rats and other rodents seeking a warm place and nesting under the cover, chewing through anything they could. My other vehicles have engine covers, and while I don't tow and they are used for transportation, not hauling heavy loads, overheating has never been an issue.

I located a new engine cover [2.0L EB] and installed it this morning. It is made of medium density foam. So far I cannot discern much if any difference in sound level on my Lariat. The engine bay does look better. I think the biggest contributor to noise reduction may be the Lariat's acoustic windshield. If owners of the XL and XLT ever need to replace their windshield, I would spring for the acoustic glass. That said, I assume it will fit on all Mav's and I have no idea of the cost difference, regular vs acoustic windshield.

Mmmm, got to love the spaghetti (and Italian tune-ups), but thinking my Mav is all about back to basics so going to keep the engine all natural.
All kidding aside, any ideas if the engine covers are insulated / sound deadend and if it is even noticeable.

Its not made of plastic so there's that...

Its made of foam and it does quiet the engine down quite a bit.
.
Thanks, I was just thinking about the sound deadening.👍🏽

Ignorant here, what is the purpose of the cover? For aesthetics? To keep dust off the engine? I know these engines are mechanically loud,so to cut noise?
Engine covers are designed to provide a nice, comfortable platform for rodents.
