I dont have fx4 but have 4k towMy question is this, is the FX4 suspension somehow different than the normal AWD suspension? Say sway bar size, lack of sway bar? I wouldn't think so but who knows? And how many AWD people who have had these issues have FX4 versus the standard suspension? Maybe therein lies the problem? IDK, I grasping at straws at this point.
My man! You are getting closer to solving an issue many of us are having! I knew it had to be the swaybar linksThe truck looks amazing and I am happy for the most part. I am glad we pinpointed the issue, now I am just on the search for some shorter end links. Scale has been the most helpful in my search and I may get some just to try. They told me I need the 12mm ball size. Can anyone confirm that?
I will get to the bottom of it, as it is driving my installer crazy as well. He has lowered many vehicles and used eibach springs for years and not once came across this. He is as determined to find a solution as we all are. It may take us some trial and error, but he is willing to help figure this out.My man! Really interested in doing the Eibach springs but concerns about the noises.
Same with my installer, he only does suspension work and even he was at lossI will get to the bottom of it, as it is driving my installer crazy as well. I am not sure, mainly what I read about have been the AWD but the front springs are the same for both. So it is probably happening on the FWD too would be my guess. The drop would essentially lower the front the same thus putting the sway bar at a different angle than stock no matter what. Why some have it and some don't is a conundrum to me. Maybe some people are using air tools to reinstall versus hand tools? Maybe some are getting everything tighter than factory torque specifications? I really am at a loss on that. I am going to take mine to my other mechanic on Monday and talk to him and see what he thinks. I'm not giving up, as the truck just looks so good lowered I won't go back to stock now.Is it only happening with hybrids or maybe awd?
Yes, I started this thread. Still there, I want to call the installer and talk about the end links. Are you having issues with the lowering springs?
Yea I went back and saw that, sorry. Sorry to kind of highjack it, but I am diligent to find an answer. Even if now eibach has completely ghosted me.Yes, I started this thread. Still there, I want to call the installer and talk about the end links.
Can you be more specific as to how you put grease on them? Did you separate the coils and coat them? I am not sure if you were having the same noise, but maybe. The front springs are the same for both the AWD and FWD, it is only the rears that are different. I will give it a try, hell, what could it hurt at this point? So, I installed the Eibach lowering springs on my ecoboost fwd a couple of weeks ago. On the test drive I had noise coming from the struts. I thought I may have over tightened the struts or something was loose. After checking everything I found all was good. Long story short, I found the noise was coming from the rubber sleeves on the springs. I put a little grease on the rubber and no more noise. Not sure if it’s the same problem everyone is having but worth a try. Hope this helps
Sure, I just jacked the front up so the springs would separate and smeared a thin coat of grease on the rubber sleeves. I used some bearing grease I had. I’m sure any grease will work. It was really just a shot in the dark cause everything looked good. I figured if it didn’t work just wipe off the grease and move on.Can you be more specific as to how you put grease on them?
