Oh OK. I haven't done the front yet. The rear is complete. The day I planned on doing the front my truck threw up 2 engine codes referring to a cylinder 3 misfire. Sucks....the truck only has 1529 miles and it's only literally 3 months old from build date. It is now at the ford dealer.
what did you torque the tie rod end to spindle "Castle" nut to? wtf ford why is there no cotter pin??? so lazy...I got them from someone here on this forum. They come from the Ford Maverick manual. It also says that you must discard the OEM bolts and nuts and purchase new ones. I just re-used the OEM ones. I didn’t see a need to buy new ones.
The rear was the easiest for me with the AWD. The front took longer because of the spring compressor needed. Just take your time. You will need a second hand to lift and align the strut to tighten the three bolts in the engine compartment. Also, I suggest you completely remove the sway bar link and then reinstall it. I tried by just just removing the top nut but it was a pain in the ass aligning it to the strut afterwards.
I didn't touch the tie rod. It was not necessary to remove with the Eibach lowering springs as far as I know. I have the AWD.
Not sure about the "ride as smooth as stock" mention. I did the same kit on my Hybrid model last night. Unless riding on smooth pavement, I would describe the ride as stiff and maybe even harsh. That maybe a difference in the drivetrain types of springs. I would imagine you are rolling a few hundred pounds heavier than mine. Finally installed the lowering springs. The rear was super easy, the front was more time consuming but not bad. About 6 hours all together. The ride is the same as stock, smooth, no rubbing, no noises, and it handles better. I also like how it is not too low, just right for me. Still need an alignment. About three inches in rear and two inches up front. No issues going over speed bumps or up on driveways. It is also easier to load and unload stuff because the bed sits lower. I kept my OEM springs in case I need to go back to stock. Thanks for reading.
The Mav rides smoother than my wife's stock suspension Honda Accord Sport, my friend's BMW, and a lot smoother than my Jeep wrangler. The BMW and the Accord both ride on low profile tires so that makes a difference.
