The Ford app is telling me that my '24 EcoBoost is in battery saver mode and that I need to drive it to use all the features. Well, I have been driving it, and it's still the same. It starts and runs fine, but the interior lights don't come on much or stay on very long. Would this be an indication that the battery is ready to die? Or something else? I did a search but all the battery saver posts were Hybrid things, nothing EcoBoost related.

from what i've seen its pretty rare to see the battery saver stuff on the EB, but there may have been reported, the overwhelming majority are the hybrids. some of the early EB had a bad batch of flooded cell batteries that ford did a recall on and replaced with new agm batteries, but the MY24 EB would already have the agm standard from the factory. Have you added any aftermarket equipment like dash cam, audio equipment etc. that could be causing a power drain??? If not, my assumption would be a battery going bad not holding a charge - but i'm far from being a mechanic or authority on the subject. your probably getting close to 2 years on a 3 year warrantied battery. hopefully others will chime in with better info. good luck!!

Several battery threads today, eh!

What you are describing could mean several things. These are a couple I can think of.

-your battery is starting to go and isnt taking much of a charge, so it can't leave battery saver mode

-maybe your truck isn't charging your battery properly...this could damage your battery over time so it eventually can't accept a charge even if you hooked up a good quality battery charger that is appropriate for charging a flooded lead acid battery (FLA) or an absorbed glass mat (AGM) battery.

You didn't mention a battery charger or voltage tester, both are items that could help you before taking it in to a shop. If you are comfortable with using tools like this. Alternate, phone a friend who is competent!

You have a 2024 so you should have warranty so you could make an appointment to bring it in to your dealer and have them check the battery (maybe even load test it to confirm its serviceability) as well as the battery charge system in your truck etc, that it is charging your battery properly.

It is important that you give them a very good debrief as to what you are experiencing, and for how long.

I know I have gone through and done the battery charging relearn process myself and so far it seems I have had no issues in this regard. (It is in your manual, or do a search on MTC to see the posts on doing it). I know I and others have posted how to do it.

Regardless, always compare directions with the manual as I know I go further in depth in my directions then the manual to make sure it has the best chance to relearn properly and it sticks.

I also hook my truck battery up to my agm battery charger every month or two, just to make sure the battery is fully and properly charged independent of the trucks charging system. I do this with all of my vehicles, not just my hybrid Maverick.

Okay, this is long enough of a post already!

Good luck, and let us know if you have any other questions as well as let us know what you find out!

Andy

Went out and checked it. Multimeter says, 12.13V truck off, 15.0V truck running. Offhand that sounds a bit low and a bit high, or is that normal for these trucks?

I have a voltage gauge in my cigarette lighter and 15.1v is about right. Your battery might be a little low. I see AMG batteries are on black friday/cyber Monday sale on Amazon.

well again, i'm far from being a mechanic or authority on the subject but to me that says truck truck is charging fine, no problem there, so that tells me its a battery problem, maybe not holding the charge or something is drawing current? 🤷‍♂️

If you have an AGM battery, here is a handy chart for reference.

Cooler weather reduces battery performance and an Ecoboost needs a good battery to actually start the engine...fall and cooler weather will definitely show if you have a weak battery.

Sounds like good charging numbers, so to me it comes down to a weak battery or a loose connection somewhere...and you said moving the red guard made it click and work, I believe.

So, also remember that a battery can show a marginal charge where it should be good but has to be load tested to confirm if it is good or not.

So that comes down to getting the battery load checked (that checks if the battery can actually support the heavy load starting your truck requires), or changing the battery on speculation (can get expensive if not sure this one is shot), or hunting down if there is a loose connection or something else.

A good charger appropriate for your battery with at least 4 or 5 amp charge to charge and condition your battery can help as well, to see if it actually charges properly.

According to the Chart Picture SafetyGuy posted Your battery is at about 55% Capacity if it's an AGM Battery.

Yeah, thinking the battery is about beat. Will give the Ford lot a call this morning, still well inside the 3yr/36k warranty.

My app told me my 25 lariat eco was in battery saver mode and it didn't read tire pressure etc. Once I started it up the app instantly was reading again.

With all of the electronics built into the new vehicles, there is a constant draw on the battery (parasitic loss).
Leaving your Maverick sit for long periods and or you only drive short distances can be hard on the battery.
A smart charger would be a solution.

My 23 ecoboost goes to sleep after 2 weeks of not driving, then wakes up after a drive or overnight with a one amp tender on it.

My Lobo is parked for the winter.
I have a Ctek extreme weather smat charger connected to the battery.
The charger monitors the battery and keeps everything tickety boo.

That is absolutely how that should work.
The modem was turned back on because the truck was turned On - current status info was sent up to Ford servers - and then your app could see it.
