There’s enough pages and info here on this topic alone that I’m kinda thinking of writing a book on it! Possibly a best seller, 🤣
You could title it The Non-Believers
Or
The Mystery of the Self-Locking Driver's Door an Unproven Phenomenon.

Oh please, we don't have to prove anything to you -- it's happened to me too. Just yesterday again. The fact it is happening to many of us tells you something. It's happened to me 3 times in the last month.... And never once in the previous 2 years I've had the vehicle.
Hey Larry, here’s my thoughts on it. I’ll say it again and again… NO WAY that door locked itself. The users are doing it with their hand. It is exactly as described in Glen’s pictures. I’ve done it myself as have so many others. There IS NO secret locking itself on the Maverick. 🥴🥴🥴

I've never had that happen to me either.

The next time your driver door gets locked, take notice that you can walk around to the passenger door, or the back doors and none of them will be locked! Your hand is mashing on that manual lock mechanism when you pull the door lever. (not the electric lock button). Also, just walk around to passenger door and hit the electric unlock button, presto! Driver door will unlock!

Because when you leave out of the driver's side door and use the door handle to open the door you're brushing against the lock when you pull the handle and locking it. To clarify I'm not saying you're hitting the power door lock button, I'm saying you're hitting the actual door lock which is right next to/above the pull handle for the door as you can see in the photo above. It's a terrible design by Ford and seemingly anyone with larger size hands will have the same problem.

Yes! That's it. I do it once in awhile when my key is in the ignition and it freaks me out each time. Getting in is easy from the rear door.

Nope, you are wrong. It did..... I've even checked the door from the outside before I walk away. When I come back it's locked. Just wait till it happens to you and then people ignorantly and arrogantly try to tell you they know better and you are stupid. What you suggested isn't even possible because IF you happen to hit the manual lock above the door handle it will move to UNLOCK when you pull the handle.

Nope. That's not even possible -- IF that actually happened (pushing the manual lock) it UNLOCKS when you pull the handle to get out.

In your universe, do the laws of space and time prevent the door release lever from being pulled BEFORE you push the manual lock? :inspect:

We had a ranger that would electronically lock the doors after we had left the vehicle too. It has other electronic issues as well and would drain the battery. This isn't anything new that hasn't happened before. All it takes is live current, Damp circuit boards and even static electricity or various ecus updating and having a dirty download or loose grounds causing a malfunction. Geez, you guys deny something like this could EVER happen. I have 2 three year old Mavericks and only ONE of them has done this.

Dude, I am so far from that …you don’t know me …you never will and actually …I’m kind of defending the others on here that are saying THE SAME THING I AM. I am not an agitator. I’m actually pretty rational and you are missing a huge point. Do yourself a favor and Go back and READ some of the old posts on this. look at some of the pictures. We ….and I say we …..because I’m not the only one…. cannot help you if you can’t help yourself. 😕😕😕
