Recently got my Hybrid XL. I expect to have a tonneau cover on it as soon as it is delivered (ordered around Christmas time) and 99% of the time, it will covered and used to carry groceries and other light stuff. Based on this use case, do I need a spray in bed liner? Or should I just get a bed mat? If yes to the bed mat, any suggestions on which one?

I just ordered the BedRug impact mat from RealTruck with my tonneau cover for my Hybrid XL. I figure if I hate it I can probably resell it and get a spray in liner. I honestly think it will meet my needs perfectly. In fact, even if I go with a spray in later, I can still use that same impact mat.

If you go that route, use the chat on their website and tell them you're a forum member to get a healthy discount.

I'm using mine for groceries and light work stuff (CAT6 cable boxes, the occasional extend ladder, toolboxes, that sort of thing). I'm getting a mat and I think that'll work perfectly fine. Can't see the point of a spray liner if everything you throw in there is going to be soft.

Bedrug makes two kinds of mats that seem to come highly rated. I ordered (And have not yet received) the impact one.

I'm getting the same, XL hybrid building 1/31. I'm holding off on the SIBL near term. Already have the soft cover in hand from Ford. Tried to order the Ford bed mat and the order got back ordered then cancelled by the dealer.

I have a bed mat and tonneau. No reason to spend $500-600 for a spray in when I’ll be flipping it anyway and probably will never haul gravel or dirt. Generic rubber bed mat from real truck for $100 and tonneau from auto accessories for $279. Even better, when I put the big plastic bin in the bed for all my other truck stuff, it stays exactly where I put it and never moves…….no sliding.

I plan to order the impact mat also. Anyone know if this is more of a rubber mat?

The Bedrug Impact mat is supposed to mimic a spray in liner with minimal sliding. The XLT mat is like carpet where things slide easily.

Generic rubber bed mat from real truck for $100
Thank you for your input. Just saw your reply. Would that mat require cutting? Can it be done at home? I don’t feel like paying $200 for something as basic as a bed mat.

I put a stall mat, purchased from a farm supply store, in mine. It is heavy rubber, 5/8" thick, and tough. Cost was $50.

It’s 3/4 inch foam underneath a rubber layer. There’s apiece of mesh between the bed portion and tailgate.

Yep. I used your basic utility knife. Still need to trim a little around the wheel wells but needed to have it in today for a 400 mile drive. Think it was 4’x 8’ to start. VERY heavy.
