FYI: the tail gate locks/unlocks the same as door locks do,I just installed the power tail gate lock assembly and the Ford wire harness. Works great!. I did lower the full size spare tire for better access to the wire connector (also good to know how to lower the spare if needed in the future). Few tips:
(1) do use some tape on the outside handle before taking torx screws loose to remove manual lock assembly so handle just doesn't fall off (screws for lock assembly also hold the outside handle on)
(2) the wire harness comes through the bottom of the tail gate and goes to underneath the bed, there is a plastic "push in" to secure the wire harness to the bottom of the tail gate that has to be popped out to remove wire harness (easily taken loose with tail gate down)
(3) tape the new wire harness (end to end) to the original wire harness before pulling it out so when you pull the original out you "feed" the new wire harness through. (original wire harness has one connector inside tail gate, new has two, one turns bed light on when tail gate is opened and the other works the power lock assembly)
FYI: the tail gate locks/unlocks the same as door locks do, first push of unlock only unlocks drivers door, 2nd push unlock all other doors including the tail gate. One push of lock button on key fob and all doors lock, including tail gate.
Key still works the tail gate lock cylinder, you do nothing to the lock cylinder.
NOTE: power lock cylinder was available, had to wait about 2 weeks for wire harness, bought from dealer where truck was purchased, used Ford points.
FYI, You may know this already, you can change the fob unlock settings so all doors including tailgate unlock with 1 push instead of 2.I just installed the power tail gate lock assembly and the Ford wire harness. Wait... what...new has two, one turns bed light on when tail gate is opened and
I noticed backup camera/remote locking cable NZ6Z-14A412-B is about 3 to 4 times as expensive as NZ6Z-14A412-A from the F250 Super Duty. Can someone post both ends of the -B cable. Hopefully the pinouts are the same and -B is just an upgraded part or from a newer supplier to Ford.
Where do I plug the NZ6Z-14A412-B cable into?you are correct! I was able to trace the correct wires from that harness. It's the yellow/purple and blue/red wire. You will have to lower your spare tire (if you have it) to access it. No more b filler tap.

May I ask where to find such a diagram? thanksSo everything I can tell, there are two different mini-wiring harnesses that come from the main harness and go to the tailgate. One with a power lock and one without. If you want to go super cheap you should just be able to find the power lock actuator from a ranger (salvage or new) and then either grab power from that main harness in the rear or buy the actual harness from Ford. I checked the main harness and all versions of it (there are a lot) include both the non-power lock tailgate and the power lock tailgate so the 12v dedicated power is definitely there and you SHOULD NOT have to go to the B pillar like OP did. (Sorry OP)
Here are diagrams and part references specific for the Maverick as opposed to the Ranger above. I'm surprised they even had diagrams for the Maverick.
Also, the part number for that shorter tailgate harness which would bring power from the main harness to the tailgate lock actuator is NZ6Z-14A412-B

Great work! I love seeing these type of postsAfter extensive research....I finally found the right OEM part to power the tailgate lock to my XL. This is a follow up to my previous thread. https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/tailgate-auto-lock-installed-for-xl.9343/ I was able to take pictures of the control from my friend's XLT. Reading the QR code...I found the part number to be jb3b431f94ad. However...a google search for that part number only yielded resellers from Europe. Exhausted from not finding more info on jb3b431f94ad...I took a shot in the dark and see if the maverick share the same control as the new Ranger. I went to a Ranger forum and found a thread where the user showed the inside of the tailgate. To my joy, the control looked exactly as the one in the Maverick...down to the same part number jb3b431f94ad. So I search the part catalog for '19 Ranger and found the control part number. The part number is JB3Z-9943170-A. A google search of that part number didn't yield any pictures for me to compare. Taking a chance...I ordered the part from Fairway Ford Parts for $80 shipped. The part came in today and boom! same as the Maverick. I quickly installed it and it works perfectly.
Part you need:
JB3Z-9943170-A

the control have a 2 pin socket.

I used a 2 pin connector plug from an old computer fan.
![]()
it fits perfectly inside the socket...

Removed the old manual control by removing the two bolts and detaching the two pull rods. Do the reverse to Install the new control. It will fit perfectly. Connect the cables. (for wiring...see below). All done.

Edit:
Thanks to Fakecowboy...I was able to track down the correct wires. remove the spare tire and find the harness for the backup camera. The wires are yellow/purple and Blue/Red.
