If I knew the hitch needs so much work, I would have ordered the hitch and the electrical connectors.

As a side product, this panel is also protecting the 12v electrical cable harness.

Yes, I did this way, just a rectangle 8x12'' aluminum flashing panel will work, fixed by 4 screws with big enough washers.
