Nice cuda I love the color and I like the 340, perfect size engine for that car. In high school I had a 70 Challenger. Sub lime green, black vinyl top. It had a 383 really nose heavy. I would have preferred a 340 and plum crazy.

If you want the warranty to stay intact, you will do at least one change annually. The reminder is based on elapsed time since the last known change, and if you drive more, mileage.
The 'Motor Oil Geek' on YT had some old oil tested, and indications are oil does expire as apparently some additives will drop out of solution. Perhaps shaking may re-disperse them?
Either way, I have been reminded right around a 12 month interval by the built-in gizmo.

You mean there is not a "use by date" on those containers of oil on the store shelf? I could have sworn I saw Autozone throwing out oil that was past it's date!
Hmmm - good dumpster diving opportunity!
Probably was just the 30W-80 stuff...

I've never been much of a adherent to expiration fears, but what you mentioned may be true. I used to buy castrol 1qt by the case (std oil, not synthetic) when they went on sale and therefore only used the last bottle at the 2nd oil change maybe 2 yrs later. Besides letting the oil catch pan drain on the funnel into the recycle container, I found myself putting the empty bottles in the funnel too and noticed the last remains were much thicker than the first pouring. I think the multi weights have thickners that do settle out and it's a test anyone with an old quart can prove for themselves. Just something to be aware of but not a problem.

I have some vehicles that probably don’t get driven 200 to 500 miles a year.im sure some of the rest of you do also.how ofton do you change the oil in them.
The last time I had 2 vehicles, the second being an F-150, I probably only drove it 3500 miles/year. So I just did the annual oil change for that. The reason being that, being driven less often, it could possibly build up with moisture that wasn't "burned" off from enough longer drives.

I've barely had my Maverick 800 miles, so I don't know how much my annual driving will be. Likely closer to 7500 miles since it gets a LOT better mileage than the F150 did. So may still do it at worst annually, even with synthetic.

Completely unrelated and pointless story.

I have a small lawn. About half a tennis court. I have a push behind gasoline mower. I've wanted an electric one for some time.

Deal with wife is, when the gasoline one dies, I can buy an electric one.

🤔

The lawn mower was given to me (by father in law) already a few years USED in 2016 when he moved into a retirement home. I did not like it. It was heavy and hard to maneuver on our sloped lawn. He has since passed away (2024).

I use it bi-monthly November to March and about weekly April to October.

Going on 10 years now I have NEVER EVER changed the oil in that thing. Hell. I have never even CHECKED the oil level in that thing. I want it to die. And this is why I'm now convinced it never will. Now it's a contest. Who goes first. Me? Or the mower.

p.s. with such a small lawn my 2.5 gallon gas can lasts over one year. So I use E10 over a year old. Mower just does not care.
I have a small lawn and cut it using an electric mower. 13 inches wide, uses a Ryobi One battery you would use in any cordless tool. Mower is completely plastic and hardly weighs anything. Very easy to use, highly recommend it. Donate the gas one and don't tell your wife.

Oil does not break down when unused. If it helps you sleep at night, change it annually, but it's totally unnecessary.
But moisture can build in humid climates inside your engine when it sits. A lot when it sits a lot.
Your oil additive package takes care of that when You start the engine. A year later and 200 miles that package is becoming less effective, less efficient.

Change your oil once a year.

Spend $50 on your baby on principal.
It’s mighty cheap insurance to better protect your investment.

And it gives a subliminal piece of mind.
I’d do it for that alone.

I bought a gas pressure washer a few years ago. The manual tha came with it says that it is no longer recommended to ever change the oil, just check it an add if necessary. It seems crazy to me, but thats what the manual says

Once a year whether it need or not, in NY we have to get vehicle inspected once a year. when I get the truck inspected I used to change the oil, I may drive it once a month. The mechanic would always ask if he can have the oil for his vehicle. Of course I said YES.
50/60 bucks a year is nothing to maintain a vehicle.

I got a 15 year old 4 wheel drive walk behind personal pace mower.
Toro, Briggs motor, sling oil system, no filter, non pressurized.
Manual says no oil changes ever, just add when low.
Bull shit !
Runs like new at 15 years old because I change out the one quart every year.
Air filter last one year,
Plug lasts three years.

I do mine once a year. Except for last year. My 22 gt 500 sat in the garage all year. Random weekend the boys wanted to do a car show at church. So I pulled it out ignored the change oil light. Drove it to town and back. It’s been a year since that. If I’m gonna go really drive it I’ll change it but lower throttle and cruising for a 100 miles I did no harm.
So generally it once a year .but a did slope in about 15-20 miles last year without a change.

Sounds like a rip off.
If you want, I'll get the make model of mine.

at 15 years no oil changes
No filter changes
No top offs
No plug changes
I have worn the rubber off the wheels but it starts first pull every time.

🤔

Engine time lets say 10 hours a year.
So "about" 150 hours total.
I think most oil is good for that.

Gas mowers: loud - heavy - and they pollute. But super reliable.
