Not sure if this is going to cover all reasons but I'm curious.
I bought mine from the dealer and AWD was on the truck. I might not have ordered it due to the expense but since it was already on the truck, I’m happy to have it.

I live in one of the coldest, snowiest places in the continental United States. Snack dab in the center of the Rocky Mountains on the Continental Divide. 🥶 Nuff said.

I had it on my first Maverick, but that was because it's what the dealer had. However, when I ordered my '23, I ordered a hybrid, so it's a combination of "No, I don't need it" and "No, not available on hybrid". Had it been available on the hybrid though, I probably still would not have got it. I live in Florida, we don't have snow or mountains and I don't go offroad, so not needed.

You only need AWD or 4WD when you need it. But if you need it and don’t have it, you’re stuck.

No because I go to the snow, the snow doesn't come to me in coastal San Diego :). In California, one can use studded snow tires or mount tire chains to the drive wheels in the mountains during winter. For 20+ years I drove to the town of Mammoth Lakes in Chrysler front wheel drive mini-vans with kids. Roads are plowed. I always got anywhere I needed to go with tire chains and FWD.

Question: Does a '22 Mav 2.0 EB FWD have the same rear suspension as a '24 Mav hybrid? I've seen comments that the hybrid suspension rides rougher than an EB Mav. and I wonder if it is the suspension is different or are hybrid drivers pumping up their tire pressure to get better mileage? I am very satisfied with the ride quality in my '22 EB FWD and have a '24 hybrid [FWD of course] on order... I just don't want to regret going to a hybrid because of the ride quality. Anyone?

Yes. Because it came with the 4K and Lariat.

I went with AWD because I already knew that I would make enough power to warrant not roasting the front wheels all the time. Added 4k tow because the benefit was worth the additional cost, even if used very little. I have a Ranger, but it gives me options and I want to take my aluminum trailer and one of our RZR's on a trip.

We initially ordered a hybrid, but I changed it months later as I didn't think we'd receive it (have 2 hybrids on order from different dealerships for 2024), but needed another vehicle sine my daughter is now driving and took my wife's CR-V. Since there is a chance we may be swapping to a hybrid in the next year since this is my wife's vehicle and she drives a lot, I figured AWD and 4k tow would help sell it later, if needed.

I went from a 22 eb XLT AWD with the 4K tow package to a 23 hybrid XLT FWD with no regrets. The farthest one day trip in the eb was maybe 300 miles. The hybrid was about 750. I doubt you'll regret the switch.

Thank you for the prompt reply. If I am as happy with the hybrid as I am with my EB, all will be well. I don't push my vehicle, drive conservatively so whereas I appreciate the spunk of the EB, I don't think I'll miss it. I have taken one 250 mi trip in my EB on SoCal freeways where one pretty much has to go with the flow, no passing as on 2 lane roads etc. although I am hoping to go on more road trips in my hybrid just because my schedule is open now. Again, thanks for your info.
