Flipper Zero can't do this. Hell, I cant get my Flipper to crack/clone my RFID bus pass, and yes.....I have all the "fun" less mainstream apps on my Flipper.
this is definitely a professional thieving device.

My Maverick doesn’t have keyless access…

I plan to install alarm system with BLE tag as second authorization.
Without this tag you will not open the doors by fob’s button
That means the parking lot scenario is right on, with non-keyless.

Now you got me concerned with when I park a ways out and someone is already sitting in their car.
Doesn't matter that I use the remote lock to arm the alarm system close by - signal is still going out.
I guess back to using the manual lock-all button, and key for entry - when I see someone out there. No, I'll never remember, gotta change habit now.

Could be an inside job. There was a rash of Hellcat thefts that were all traced back to the dealership service center. You come in with your vehicle and they have your VIN and address. They simply create the key needed to steal it without needing to touch your original keys.

Which is why some manufactures allow you to disable the transmission from the key. I used it on my Toyota's with smart keys for years, when disabled you had to push the buttons on the fob to unlock the doors. To be clear it disabled the function on the vehicle temporarily, until the next time you unlocked the vehicle. I don't know if Ford keys have this feature.
Fob is supposed to go to sleep with non-movement, warning in manual about that in case you can't get the unlock ability to work - keyless or non-keyless.

Damn, they unlock it like they had a key.
Yup. Kind of strange. Most likely cloned the key electronically somehow. Maybe better these days to forget the "tech" and lock with the actual key itself (Those of us with key start). I wonder if the Mav's with the "fob" in the pocket could just start using the included key all the time? Or, just get a mechanical key cut to lock and unlock the door. I don't know if some bad dude could still clone it like that or not, as you are not sending out a signal to the truck.

this is why Ford made it so that you can't pair a key without 2 of them. you can't easily clone a Ford key, unlike Dodge.

question for the OP, does this truck have all the software recalls complete? the ones that came out 1st and 2nd quarter 2024.

Hi there

Tonight my Maverick was opened and stolen some stuff
On the video you can see how it was.

Anyone know how he opened my Maverick and how can I prevent this in the future?

P.S. Maverick I bought in the dealer 1 year ago and both keys was in my house.

What was the value of the stolen item(s)?
Appears very targeted. Prior knowledge what was inside.

Were they using an transmitter amplifier

No need to duplicate, just amplify the signal from the existing fob.
if that's what happened they would have had to have a relay/repeat device near the fob. or a fairly powerful device with a directional antenna pointed at it.

*and*

the fob has to be awake. modern Ford key fobs go to sleep when they haven't moved in a while, to block attacks just like that. you can get a Faraday pouch but if you take the key out of your pocket and set it down somewhere motionless, it stops transmitting and couldn't be relayed.

Keyless is always sending signal out with the info if it's seeing movement on the fob.
Would be like constantly pressing the unlock button on your non-keyless as you approached the truck.

So using the keyless entry physical key changes nothing about the opportunity to read the sent transponder info from the airwaves.

They don't need to be near the FOB. theives

Within hearing distance, depending on what you think was meant by "near".

Also - doing a repeater method still doesn't mean the vehicle is going to see a fob in the vehicle to allow driving off.
It only saw the signal to allow keyless entry.
I'm sure the vehicle in the video still requires a fob inside the cabin to allow driving.
Someone already has a post for the keyless Maverick where they drove off window open and tossed the fob out. And the Maverick doesn't even allow starting it if it doesn't see fob in cab.

I don't think the news got the method right.
For stealing the Range Rover which was the clear intent, they probably got the recorded signal from a parking lot, and made a duplicate fob, so everything was ready to go.
Or may the Range Rover fobs don't go to sleep - and they approached house earlier and got signal and did the same.

Ok, that makes sense when I think about it. We have keyless entry on our 4Runner, just never thought it is constantly searching if the fob is moving. What if one left the fob at home, and just used a cut key? Locks would work and I know you wouldn't be able to unlock with the touch on the handle, but probably safer?

No need for that, on Toyota vehicles there is a button combination you can press to put the fob to sleep until the next time you press the unlock button. Safer, and makes the fob battery last longer. I used it all the time on my Rav4 Limited, 4Runner likely works the same way.

How are you going to use a cut key on a vehicle with push button start anyway?

Yup, forgot about the button push. Will look at wife's fob and owner manual to see if it is on her 2014. If that works out on Toyota, why can't Ford figure out the same thing on theirs'? Probably be an added $$$$$ option. The other question I have is, if a nearby nerdy bad dude is trying to capture your lock/unlock signal as you push the button, to obtain the clone, or is it the constant "roving" signal from the fob just "looking" that he needs to get? Thanks for the info! By the way, I am a pretty nerdy guy myself. Ran a part time business out of my home for about 25 years, repairing laptops/PC's and fixing software issues, including viruses, malware etc. etc. Mad me a fair bit of extra cash in the day. Still do it for family and friends, although I remote in and do most of it now. (as long as their machine will start).
