This may be an example of reverse psychology, if true...and seems possible to me.

My thought as to their sales tactic is "The best way to not keep a secret is by trying to keep our Mavericks a secret"!

Here in Northeast.Ohio there's Ford commercials of a Guy his Wife and Daughter, Him with a Full Size Bronco and Maverick Hybrid,His Daughter with a Bronco Sport and His Wife with an F-150. The Guy also does quick interviews with a Lady with a Hybrid Maverick and a Guy with an F-150 and a Lady with an Explorer ST.

And one other interesting fact: beginning in 1915 (I think that's when production had really ramped up, might be 1916), a worker on the assembly line could buy a Model T with four months salary. I first heard about the Maverick on another website called "The Ranger Station" which I also belong to and don't get on there much anymore and it was the only way that I heard about the Maverick and never heard about it on the radio or saw a commercial for it on tv.

In the late '20s, luxury manufacturers were designing and implementing V-12 engines.

Cadillac quietly encouraged the rumors that it was doing the same--so that it could sandbag them with the V-16 that it was actually developing!

(a couple of years later, they added a V-12, too)

That wasn't the reason for the wage increase, though. While it's true that ford doubled the going $5 a day wage, it wasn't so that workers could afford to buy one. Rather, turnover was 400%/year in the industry. At $10/day, a worker couldn't Mae the same elsewhere, and stuck around more than ther three month average, giving Ford the most experienced work force.

Exactly. That is the stupidest thing I ever heard. It's like, no shit. But this being the USA you can bet it's there because someone who was allergic to it took it and then said, no one warned me.
