For those who assume all Hybrids are slow don't snooze on them. Ford makes sure the ecoboost is quicker in the Maverick, but in many vehicles the hybrid is the quicker version. Even the Honda Civic SI is slower than the Civic Hybrid's.

Just answered my own question, it's got the frikkin Edge ST transmission!!! I'm sick to my stomach now because I could have tuned that sucker bigtime, but I just had to that 4k tow pack!

First year Countach, plain jane 944 ... surprising what cars which were once GT going on supercar class it matches or edges on those number.
I've had this same thought anytime someone asks if the Maverick is quick. Granted, I realize we're comparing to different generations of vehicles.

My dad had a 1983 Porche 928S that I can remember feeling like it was a rocket when he'd floor it, it had a V8 and went 0-60 in about 6.2 seconds (and that was an improvement from the pre-1983 models at 6.8 seconds). He also had a 2000 Mercedes SL 500 which did it in about 6 seconds, so yeah it would win by "a lot" by drag race standards but not that much quicker than the Maverick in the real world.

I had a 2003 Toyota Celica which I realize is a poor mans "sporty" car, it went 0-60 in about 9 seconds, and my previous vehicle was a 2008 CRV which did it in about 9.2 seconds. While 0-60 times are fun, I care more about performance at highway speeds. I can remember occasions where I needed to accelerate quickly and the CRV and Celica got the job done, but they didn't feel great doing it. The few times I've had to do that in my 2024 Maverick it's always felt like there was plenty of acceleration left in it, even when already at 65mph - 70mph.

Frankly, I'm surprised that they don't offer the 1.5 EB option also, as a base engine. Slower than both options, but it seems to be a pretty solid engine, based on my experience with my previous Escape.
I think the smaller EB would struggle with the meager 2k towing capacity. We've all seen the posts of someone towing or hauling way more than the rating.

Yeah, not a fan of tiny engines that basically have to flog the piss out of themselves to keep up. Sure, they can be made to do it but that's gotta take a toll.

Compared to the 2024 Rav4, the Maverick is a lot cheaper, way faster 0-60 and in the quarter mile, and gets much better fuel economy.
You should be comparing a Rav4 AWD hybrid. Which gets ACC, so that makes it cheaper than a Maverick with ACC (Lariat only).

The new 2026 Ravs will be even better, IMO.

Do you realize how much your MPG will plummet and your miles to empty will be compromised if you do a 6.7sec zero to sixty? Lordy.
Sport Mode? C’mon, stop it.
eh, I think it's just good to know you can snap it up if /when you need to . Other downside is that with the added FWD torque the tires wear more. So, make use of the quickness when you need it and not just all the time.

It’s actually really disappointing for a publication like car and driver to state that the hybrid drivetrain, sans AWD, is unchanged and then hypothesize the quicker 0-60 times be to less torque limiting.

When there is a brand new HF55 transmission with a much more powerful electric drive motor. Do better C/D

I'd be curious what's really allowed to be used in the new system. I was going to mention this in another thread were you reminded someone of bigger motor.

Traction motor on pre-25's is 94 kW. (abouts 126 HP?)
But the system allowed 27 kW max power from only the battery. (abouts 36 HP)
Obviously a "boost" (is that what they called it?) mode available being fed by the DCDC and generator motor basically allowed it to use full power, extra 90 HP along with ICE.

So just theory, but if that 10% max EV line was 36 HP, and the 25MY allows closer to 15%, what would that be?
Because not only bigger motor - but allowing more of it to be used.

So many times going down the road, I've noticed if I could just get to 15% power line in EV mode - I could have stayed in EV mode over the hill or regen back the next slight decline.
Even more so with bigger motor to 15%!

Ya - I'd think all the reviewers would have access to a better datasheet than seems to be publicly available, to give those insights for comparison.

On the RAV4, it is not way more expensive than the Maverick. They start at $28,850. And if you get the rav4 prime, the one that IS way more expensive ($44,565) than the Maverick, it is also 300 hp, 0-60 in 5.5 sec and 1/4 mile in 14.0 sec.
When I shopped this past summer, there were >15 Mavericks at my 3 local Ford dealers with MSRP beneath $30,000 on the sticker.

Regardless of what Toyota says, I could not find a RAV4 Hybrid with a MSRP sticker under $35,000.

Though I wound up in a Lariat, I was shopping XLT luxury pkgs, and I would have had an OTD price at least $3K less than a similarly "one up from base" RAV4 Hybrid. And the RAV4 actually shows worse mileage.

Which, to be fair, is a bit of a dense point, as I think the real difference for many is whether you want the bed or the enclosed space. I was not all-in either way, but after brief test drives, I'll say I found one car annoying and the other a pleasure to just drive.

I dislike the whole "starting at" marketing.

I like to see how high of an MPG I can get when not doing highway driving. It's actually not that uncommon for me to hit 60+ MPG for my low speed (<50 mph) trips around town. Usually, I achieve those numbers under fairly ideal conditions where it's not freezing cold outside, the truck is warmed up, not too much traffic, etc. but still, pretty awesome.

That's in a straight line. The fun in the Maverick, '24 hybrid, is not backing out of cruise control at 60 mph around a 90 degree country road turn!!

I was going to ask if you ever noticed it backing off coming into corners, then I see you have an XLT so you probably don't have ACC. Anyone else notice it? I've traveled Hyw 4 between Stockton and Discovery Bay a lot over the years so I know it pretty well. I've noticed the truck backing off when coming into corners without a vehicle in front of me.

Yup, same here on our 25 Lariat and I'm super curious how that works. Is it reading the road ahead off the navigation maps, or is it reading the road signs with the windshield camera like the speed limit recognition? I'd love to find out.

When I come up to a roundabout it also slows way down. My other question is, if it can recognize and react to sharp curves, why doesn't it recognize stop signs? That would be great 😄

Hit basically 60 mpg exactly this morning driving to work after going to the store. My first drive if the day was more like 40mpg because the engine warming up
